Hi, I have a bumper crop of Tomatoes this year. I need your help in determning male from female tomatoes so I can save the seeds from these Heirlooms. Mortgage Lifter, Cherokee Red, and Brandwine. My mother-in-law showed me a long time ago. She said that the females had just a dot where the blosson end is, and the male had a line across at the blosson end. If this is correct, all of the heirloom tomatoes seem to have a small hole surrounded with a cicular mark unlike the beefstakes and jet star tomatoes. It is true that you need to save seeds from female tomatoes only? These tomatoes are the biggest tomatoes I have ever seen and I have been growing tomatoes for 50 years. Most of them weight 2# up to one that was 5# so far. The plants were so heavy with fruit that they slid right down the stakes. One plant has what I feel has to be 50# or more on right now. Help me determine the male from female tomatoes please. Thanks, Pat
