hamilton ontario , Canada

hello:
we have been coming to florida from canada for 15 yrs and have just returned home after a 3 week holiday there. i have a question for anyone who can help me. when we drive down the road at night, there is a distinctive smelling plant that we always smell, but do not know what it is. we stay in port charlotte florida when we come down. the smell of the plant, smells, fresh and leafy, its a beautiful smell, we have smelled that smell every year. can someone tell me what that plant is?
thank you very much

For me right now it's the Clethra or Summersweet. This is the time of the year they earn their keep here in Z6 MA... Not much of a flower but it sure makes up for it in smell.

PS.. I couldn't figure out where on the road this was happening. FLA or Canada..
