Zinnia & Many other Types of Seeds

Howard City, MI(Zone 5b)

The zinnias I planted have yet to flower. They have grown and are green but still no flowers. This is the case for many of my seeds that were planted. Is it too late for any of these to flower this year or is there still hope?

I don't know what else you planted--if they were perennials many of them won't bloom their first year from seed so you may have to wait until next year. For annuals--when did you plant them? If you planted them too late then they will either bloom later than you expected, or if you were way too late they may not get around to blooming before frost kills them. But I wouldn't give up yet at least on the zinnias, there's still time for them to bloom.

I beleive all I planted were annual seeds such as bean hyacinths, morning glories, many wildflower seeds, kiss me nots, etc. All were planted late May to Mid June (at the latest).

I think there's still hope that at least some of them will bloom this year. As long as you've put them in an area with enough sun and you're watering and fertilizing them there's really not much you can do to force them--just be patient and hopefully they should get around to blooming. For next year, if you want things to bloom sooner you can try wintersowing or else start the seeds indoors or in a greenhouse 4-6 wks or so before your last frost date--it's a little more work but it will give them a head start so you won't have to wait as long for blooms.
