Can anyone properly identify this plant? It was given to me in a pot which I placed in this location by my house. I thought I had discarded the plant at the end of the season last year, but lo and behold a piece managed to plant itself nevertheless.
It grows low and branches in a circular fashion, making these delicate blue blooms that are usually found closed if one does not make it outdoors until afternoon. I like it. It reminds me of a wandering jew.
Need help with ID on this flower
I'd say you have already identified it.
It's not wandering jew but it is in the same family. It's a Commelina (dayflower) of some sort. Many of them are quite weedy, although the flowers are pretty.
Possibly Commelina erecta.
I'm so glad you posted a picture of this plant. A friend has this but when I was there to take a picture I couldn't find one in bloom. It has seeded ALL OVER their 10 acre property. The bloom is indeed a beautiful shade of blue but it isn't worth the bother if it eats every square inch of your place. She has been fighting this stuff for years but it's still everywhere!
