Just went and looked at all the baby pictures. How wonderful! He does look more like you. lol
You look pretty good in the pictures considering...... lol.
I'm so glad to hear all is going well.
I didn't even know you were pregnant.
Hey Fairy!! so good to see you.. and i too did not know you were PG. Huge congrats on the new sweet baby. I had an 8 week premie.... he's 23 now. always seems like they are so small, but they do grow like weeds too. My Jimbo was only 3lb 5 oz ... 5'8 is a good weight for a 7 week premie.
Terese
I don't think she was telling anyone or she wasn't telling us on here, I had to go look her up just to get to talk to her like no one would miss Fairy LOL I sure did! Then she hit me with the happy news I get so excited when babies are coming can't believe she did that LOL Did you see her DH he's a looker too :)
Well it'snice and cool here today and hoping to get some rain so I'm going out to plant it's way over due!
Sorry-I told some ladies I chat with in the General chat room (we get together once a yr) and forgot to tell anyone else-I guess since I chat with them everyday, I knew they would want to know, but didn't think anyone else would be interested....it took us 7yrs and I had finally given up, so when I started getting sick every night and then took a test at a friends suggestion, I thought I messed the test up-after so many negative results I just thought there was no way I was finally pregnant-LOL. It was funny-I had to have a Csection because my body wouldn't dilate past 6cm, so when the Dr took him out she said she swore he had a 6cm ring around his head. He was so low and trying to push his way out-it was soooo painful!! After I described it to my mom, she had said if I had been at 10cm, it wouldn't have hurt so bad..
Jonathan got his feeding tube out yesterday to try and see how he would feed without it-we are keeping our fingers crossed that they can leave it out and that he continues to feed well so he can come home. Our 9th anv is on Fri and he would be the perfect present:) DH Bday was this past Sun and I told him the baby was his present;)
My pregnancy was not fun in any way-I was sick the whole time and worked at Michaels where I had to deal with the public and stand in pretty much one place all day:( I only gained 22.5 lbs though and found out at my OB appt yesterday that I lost 18.5 lbs of that with the birth:) I was surprised that a baby, water and placenta added up to so much;)LOL
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone-and I now know if Lea ever comes to visit to lock my husband away from her;)LOL
Terese-I had a 32 week ultrasound and the guestimated his weight at 5lbs and 5oz at that time-had another scheduled for 36 weeks and if his growth stayed on that track the Dr would have taken him early anyway-if I had went to term she was guessing 10-11lbs which can be dangerous for the mom (broken pelvis) and for the baby (broken or dislocated shoulders)...
My doctors told me I would have to have a C-section if my son weighed over 7 lbs. he weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. they cut the heck out of me then said he should have been C-section! A little late for it then lol We didn't have ultra sound then that was 38 yrs. ago.
Now Fairy if you hid your DH in the closet you would be taking all the fun out of it for me lol Like I could get to MI. lol I wish I could!
Wow Fairy! Congratulations! Your baby boy is beautiful! Those hospital pictures bring back memories. I swear they all use those same blankets! Lol I have the same ones in my girls baby pics. : ) I'm so happy you shared your joyous time with us!
Fairy! Jonathan is a handsome little fellow! Congratulations ^_^

hopefully someone has mailed you already.
Fairy! Congratulations -- there's no better miracle on earth than a precious baby like your Jonathon!
I dmailed Seandor the other day :) May take her a while to get back to me.
Tamara -- you mean the Purple flower??
It's actually a Salvia .... xHybrid "Mesa Purple"
isn't it stunning?? got the seeds from Danita in last years trade/swap
**running out to gather seeds... one of the funnest times of the year.
Huggergirl I think I got seeds to some zinnias like your purple one above last year and didn't plant them you're making me wish I had planted them lol
Terese what is the red flowers in your picture a penstemon or salvia, those purple ones are pretty! Are the red ones pretty tall from the yellow milkweed beside them the they look like they are.
OH Lea -- sorry i guess i didnt mention the Bonfire Salvia. sure is a looker.
I saw some hybrids this year wish I would have bought them, but the dh was with me and I didnt want to hear him say once again where are you going to put that,,,arrggg ,I thought about them all summer .Very nice combo. I will always and forever plant zinnias...They amaze me.Even when they get powdery mildew ,I still love them..Iam loving some Holly Hock too, peach and red double blooms ,this was an earlier photo, the peach are still blooming.
while at garden centers, i rarely look to "buy" plants... i just hate the expense - for most of everything, i can grow, or attempt to grow by seeds.
I saw a Black & Blue Salvia for 10 bucks, and while i would love to have the plant, i wont spend that kind of $$ ... and this was in zone 4 where it is not even hardy.
I will buy when plants are on clearance though....
I bet you got those bonfire seeds from me Terese lol I haven't planted any for a few years now but they keep popping up here and there I have one not far from my front door and can see the hummers drinking out of it from in here :)
I have some seeds to the red single holly hocks and still have yet to plant them if it's going to be dry next summer too and that's what I read on the Farmer's Almanac site for next year :( Don't think they will get planted for next year either not going thru the sad picture of seeing plants so thirsty again and besides if it's dry this winter and next summer too probably won't be able to use water the will probably have us on restrictions for next year! Sooo I'm planting accordingly :( Don't think I'll be planting in pots either they are so much trouble when it's dry my poor babies in the pots this year really had to struggle to stay alive the same plants (salvias mostly) in the ground did a lot better. The petunias didn't do so bad I still may put those in pots and try and remember to use my crystals LOL What a year to forget my crystals!
Terese I'm trying to stay away from the garden centers right now when they have everything on sale we have that problem here too $10 is too much for a plant when it's not a perennial and it doesn't even reseed here or at least it doesn't for me.
i mostly buy reduced plants,or small $2 things ,Iam close to a farm market that has been here forever. They always have small pereinnials for 1.75 thats where I got the double peach and the red HH,I need to get more involed with the seed swapping, new things overwhelm me so Iam chicken !!! I did collect a ton of seed this year ...Should i chill any of these seeds ??? I know some dont need it but others need it ????
Tamara -- I know some folks who put seeds in the frig ... i think DH would not appreciate me stuffing the frig with my seed packets.
I've never 'chilled' mine. Since i WS everything, mother nature chills them for me.
But then - you do a lot of indoor sowing too, right? There are seeds that have to be cold stratified. [i think that is the word]
OH and Hollyhocks... boy do they produce A LOT of seeds....
I WS'ed some last winter and they bloomed for me this year.... the thing did not grow straight, so it's sort of ugly looking.
I've trimmed back some of the 'branches' .... Hmmmm - It's possible it's Black Current Whirl
Yes I start under lights, and yes HH produce seed !!! I will probly go head throw all my seed in the fridge ,I ll be covered !!! Iam going to WS this year too, save on space in here under lights for peatunias and violas and such that I want blooming when I plant them.Lebug I only had a few lg pots this year,I have cut way down on them too much work .I ended up dumping 2 in August the heat and drought, couldnt keep them watered enough. Terese I have some black HH seed ,no id ,I threw away all the seed packets of the seed I started ,DUHHH i dont know what I was thinking, but it is almost black and really tall spikes like 10 ft crazy things
I too have a variety of "black" HH seeds... who knew black could come in so many colors.
I think i have Negra, Black Watchmen, plain Black and the Black Current Whirl - which to me, seems more purple.
I'll see if i can get a shot of a bloom before it starts raining...
have to go gather seeds from Feverfew and mexican hats.
mexican hats ??? I have such boring varities !!! But Iam adding lots of new things since joining DG,Ive really opened my eyes to other plants .I dont know what I was thinking all those years and missing out on like zinnias !!! and jupiters beard and HH,Malva... This Black HH is really deep deep purple
I know what you mean about Zinnias in particular. My mom used to grow them, and I thought they were just kind of dull and dusty looking. I had no idea the variety that are available now. The colors are so much more vibrant than what she grew when I was a kid! I didn't know Malva existed... going to have to investigate Jupiter's Beard now Huggergirl :) My favorites that I didn't know existed are Salvia, Mexican Bush Sage, Dahlias and ginger! And there is so much more to mums than I ever knew also!
Not having much luck with HH's... will try some in a different spot. They keep getting rust on them the first year, or dying from lack of water or something. Since they're going to be tall I put them at the back of the bed, but since they're short the first year that doesn't seem the best (they get ignored and don't have great air circulation)... what do you all do with them the first year? I had one make it to bloom last year, and then it fell over in a windstorm while I was on vacation :-(
I dug up and gave away the Black HH too tall for me ,i did start them from seed last spring,my red and peach Iam just leaving them be ,we will see what happens.i need to move my jupiters beard ,I didnt realize what its habits were, and it could use a bit more sun than shade. This was a new addition Peppermint twist phlox,it did great,I saved seed .

Ratibida columnifera
Mexican Hats | Upright Prairie Cone Flowers -- they are so pretty when done in a large area.
