Mini PNW Roundup in Sept interest?

Langley, WA(Zone 7b)

Very sweet faces on those two!

I might bring Buddy. I'd bring Kenzie but with her health issues, it'd be risky.

(Judi)Portland, OR

I will bring Koka - she loves other dogs.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

For those who use a GPS, it always says you are here 2 houses before ours. Keep going, we will have a sign or balloons out front.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Rob, I lost my Nick a month ago, as well. My condolences on the loss of your lovely little scent hound. Quinn must miss him or her.

Lynn - I'm going to try to come, just can't promise anything yet.

Thanks,

Kathy

Mountlake Terrace, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks for your condolences, he still brings tears to all of us, Quinn however, I believe is a Buddhist Guru as he only lives in the present..

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yes - our canine friends are inspirational in that way . . .

Oh, Rob, that's a heartbreaker. I'm so sorry.
I'll be coming, and Mike might come. Have you heard from Steve (soferdig)?
I will be bringing a lot of plants, as well as gardening books and items from the greenhouse.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

I am reposting this as a reminder to all.

I hope we can have a great turnout.

Who needs sleeping accommodations?
Gwen, are you bringing your family?
Melissa is bringing Mike.

Holly, has things changed so that you can come also?

(Judi)Portland, OR

I will be coming but just for the day. Right now it's so hot that I can't imagine sitting in a hot tub.

I am looking for ward to meeting more of you!

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Thanks for thinking of me Lynn. I don't think I'll be able to make it, though it would be a welcome break for some fun. My mom is moving that week. I've been helping her get ready for a major downsize and she is likely to need help getting settled in her new place with the unpacking

I have started some yellow crocosmia this year, and should have some to share in the future, once it gets established. I think someone mentioned wanting this.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

I would love to have some yellow crocosmia.

Hope the move goes well.
We'll be thinking of you.

I have a bunch of cuttings in the cloner, will post a picture later. I hope some will be rooted by Round Up. I will have my pruners available for anyone who wants to take cuttings of some of my plants.

In the cloner:
Physocarpus
Forsythia (Thinking of you, Laurie!)
Hydrangeas
Vibernum
Weigela
Snowberry
Brugmansia

(Judi)Portland, OR

I don't know what half the plants in my garden are, and I have no idea what to take cuttings of or how each one should be done. I do have some false spirea I can dig up and bring. They are volunteers and may soon be pulled out of the ground by my daughter's dog if I don't rescue them first.

I went crazy buying seeds that I can't possibly use and now have way too much of, so I can bring them.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

We LOVE seeds, Judi.

I don't know what a lot of my plants are, or WHERE they are. I didn't realize just how BIG some things were going to grow, so I am now coming across "hidden" plants.

Now I need to know what will reseed themselves for net year. (Sorry my key is broken, so I cannot type the letter that is between z and c- cat caught her claw on the key when I was trying to get her off the laptop.)

(Judi)Portland, OR

I don't even know what are weeds and what are keepers.

Oh no - think of all the words you won't be able to type. X-ray exam xylophone exact examine extra exclamation! Maybe you can use >< instead.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Lynn - I had that problem. Replacement keyboard are very inexpensive on ebay. And then youtube has videos of how to replace them. It's not hard!! Do a Google search, being sure to put in the manufacturer and model number of your laptop.

I'd say the cat was pretty nice for choosing x, one you don't use that often . . .

Cedarhome, WA(Zone 8b)

I have read, but never tried, cleaning a keyboard by putting it through the dishwasher. The directions are to place it keys down in the top rack, run through with no detergent, and let dry for 2-3 days. I can't imagine that this works, but it is worth trying on the stuck one if you do buy a replacement. I like having a spare keyboard and mouse available - equipment tends to break down at the most inconvenient times.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

That's interesting . . . but if you're taking it out anyway, it can't hurt. I've never thought about having a spare available.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Thanks for the tips. I didn't know you could replace/repair a laptop keyboard. I will google it tonight.

Judi, I have a bunch of things that I don't know if they are weeds or flowers. Maybe I will take pictures today and post them.
I have a dentist appt in a5 min, better hurry!!

Cedarhome, WA(Zone 8b)

Lynn, I didn't catch that you are having trouble with your laptop, I assumed it was just a keyboard. I just recently bought a laptop to replace my CPU but I don't use its keyboard or screen, it just sits tucked away. Haven't taken it anywhere yet, so no clue how it works as intended. Was fairly reasonably priced, and there should be 'deals' coming up with back-to-school sales if that's the route you have to take. I detest shopping for technology (actually I don't like shopping for anything other than plants, malls depress me).

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Roundup is less than 2 weeks away now.

I would really appreciate it if I could get some more definite attendees, so I have enough food/mimosas!

We have been working on getting the new "Tea House" completed before R/Up. It is built, but we have to dismantle it and move it to a better location and get the shower built and plumbed. I will post pictures.

(Judi)Portland, OR

Lynn, I am starting my clinical preceptorship on that weekend, and will be working in the prison both Saturday and Sunday from 1 until 9 pm. I was so looking forward to coming to the RU! I'm very disappointed!

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Judi, you will just have to come some other time. You are always welcome.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Here is a "rough" picture of the new gazebo for the hot tub. We still need to build the roof. It will have a 6ft skylight.

Here is the Tea House. It will have a shower and changing area inside.
We originally put it on the patio, but it is way too big for the area. We are going to move it after we get a foundation prepared for it.

Here is where it is sitting now.

We will be moving it to this area of the yard, close to the patio and hot tub.

Oh I would love to see all your new projects! Instead I will be in a dismal prison. Love the tea house. How do you guys do such heavy work? It would kill me. The prison wants me to start the third week in September, so I am assuming that means the weekend of the 17th and 18th - I will check to make sure.

(Judi)Portland, OR

Was the tea house a kit? If so, what kind is it? I am trying to decide what I want to do with the space where my dilapidated garage is.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Teahouse is fabulous!

I'm sorry, but I'm still not sure whether I'll be able to make it or not. Things keep changing on us. sigh.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

We found the Tea House on Craig's List. It was a gazebo for a hot tub. It is 10 by 12 with a 5foot tip out (which will be the shower room) and 2 garden windows. Then we bought a cedar sauna that will be converted to a shower stall.

We have lots of projects started, need to get them completed!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Wow, you guys are busy! The tea house is SO cute- I want one! Not that we have room in our dinky yard... LOL

I *love* the look on Joey's face in the gazebo pic... ROFL!

I've created a thread where you can check out what I have to bring and post if you are interested. Please visit the thread and put your name on some of these plants. They are about to be orphaned.

Lynn, I am so jealous of your craiglist finds! First the propogator and now a teahouse. How do you find this stuff?!

Mountlake Terrace, WA(Zone 8a)

I too am a big Craiglister for all sorts of stuff. Tricks to find items can be to search "all for sale" as one never knows where stuff will end up. Also try anything it can be called and if one search is contaminated with much of the same. In example, "cactus" with bring up tons of Dahlia 'Cactus' one can query 'cactus -dahlia' to get rid of them. And then think of every thing you can call it. You can also query only title which can work well.

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Love the tea house..what a fun project!!

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

We are looking forward to the roundup. We got a chance to see Lynn's new projects in person a week or so ago, and she has so many wonderful things going on! Not to mention how crazy beautiful her gardens are right now.... everything really loves her tagro beds!

After seeing how pulled together her yard is, I want to make anyone who will be touring our area promise to wear weed blinders!

Judi, I am sad that you may not be able to make it. We are really looking forward to meeting you eventually!

Lake Stevens, WA

Looking forward to seeing the gardens and that nice tea house. Wow.
The people up north D-mail me if you want to ride with me. I get car sick so I like to drive. Linda and Deb want to go with Miss chat a lot!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

I would love to go down with you, SC, depending on how long you're planning on staying. I can't stay more than the day because of the dogs. :-)

Lake Stevens, WA

I can only stay for the day. Have to be back Sunday to take Son #2 to WWU. Would like to be at Lynn's close to 11ish. Start back after dinner.
