Tall weed or wonderful flower on it's way? Which?

Poughkeepsie - Hyde , NY(Zone 4a)

This tall plant was in the garden last year on one side of the garden, after it reached 3 ft. with no flower I thought it was a weed, so I pulled it.

This year it is on the opposite side of the garden, and has reached 6 ft. still with no flower.

The bugs like its leaves as you can tell from the 2nd photo I will put up.

Any one have a clue as to what it might be?

Thanks

Nancy

Hi this is a picture of the leaf...

As I said the bugs seem to like it.

Thanks

Nancy.

That's Giant Ragweed - Ambrosia trifida

Apparently, bugs don't like it well enough.

Hi and thanks for this answer. My friend, Marc has been running round sneezing now for weeks. Bet it is due to this.

Well out it goes.

Thanks so much for the info.

Well that stinks.. I thought the original pic at the top was somewhat attractive.

If you like one...you'll soon have a forest of them.

It isn't named GIANT RAGWEED for nothing. One plant will produce zillions of babies for the next season, and in decent soils with a long growing season (like Alabama) you could have 10-15' tall plants.

Which make you sneeze...

Oh, I don't WANT one (or zillions).. I was just thinking it wasn't such a bad looking plant UNTIL... I got the rest of the story. : ) LOL.

I received my first GIANT RAGWEED from a bag of bird seed --- changed brands as soon as I found out what it was, but still get them showing up occasionally. Just glad that they're so easy to spot, and pull up without a fuss. Wish that regular ragweed was as agreeable.
