I have been told that I shouldn't grow tomatoes & marigolds next to each other. I'm not sure why, but the marigolds have an adverse effect on the tomatoes.
Has anyone more information about this, or is it just an old wives tale?
Thank you for any info...
tomatoes & marigolds
Whoever told you that had it backwards--people do plant them together, on the theory that the marigolds will keep pests away from the tomatoes or something like that. I've never tried it so I have no idea if it works or not, but at the very least it won't hurt anything to plant them together.
Here's a companion planting chart that tells you what works well together and what shouldn't be planted with each other http://www.gardensimply.com/comchart.shtml
