My lawns, both front and back, were becoming mostly weeds. I don't want to use chemicals, so this year, about three weeks ago, I had the lawns rototilled, and I planted Dutch White Clover seed. Unfortunately, there must have been a lot of seeds lurking under the soil, because half of the lawns were filled with crab grass seedlings along with the new clover. I started pullling the crab grass by hand in the front lawn, and I am about three-quarters of the way through. I've been working about three or four hours a day pulling weeds, and I am re-seeding the bare spots with new clover. This is so time-consuming that I don't know if I'll get to the back yard, but at least I hope to have a nice clover lawn in the front. My question is, am I wasting my time? Will the crab grass come back? I read that the clover is supposed to crowd out other weeds, and I am hoping this is the case. Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated. I very much want a clover lawn.
