I found a bunch of ants in my corn today and then a couple of ant hills on the ground by the corn. Ive been reading that cinnamon and orange oil will kill the ants. Is there anything that I can spray on the corn (orange oil mixed with soapy water) that will kill the ants but not the corn??
How do you get rid of ants that are eating my corn?
ants are usually a good indication that you have an aphid problem, ants feed off the 'honeydew' excreted by the aphids. If you are noticing damage to the corn...yellowing, wilt, etc... it's most likely due to aphids and not ants.
check each ear carefully, look for tiny green - brown bugs, they usually hang out in dense colonies. if you find them, they can be treated with a number of different products, including homemade and organic. If you get rid of the aphids, you get rid of the ants.
hope that helps :)
