Hi. I live in Calgary and planted a Hawthorn aprox. 5 years ago. It flowered the first three years it was planted but hasn't for the past two years. Can anyone tell me why? It's in a sunny part of the yard, leafs out very well but hasn't really grown much either in the last two years. The soil in my yard is typical - clay - but the hawthorn is in a lower part of the yard so it probably never really dries out.
I also have a columnar aspen in the middle of a row of 9 that is the same height that it was the day I planted it 4 years ago. We aerate the yard yearly because of the heaviness of the soil and apart from the absence of new growth, the trees look healthy.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
