Time for a new thread!
Lots of great photos on #335! We came from here... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1114376/
All this time that I have been watching my little Green Heron friends, I was aware there was another nest just above the first. While taking photos of the juvies from the first group, a second female was sitting on her eggs.
This first photo shows the second nest in the upper left corner, while the first babies were still kind of small.

I also thought I would share this with my Bird Watching friends...
In late April, I watched the Great Blue Herons during the Shad spawning run on the Rappahannock River. I posted a shot similar to this one back then, showing one of them catching a fish. This shot is two or three frames earlier, but I liked this one because of the blood droplets around the fish.
In late June, I entered five photos in the Fredericksburg Photography Show, on the urging of some friends. This was a first for me, to print, matt, and show my photos in public. Out of the five photos, I received a first place, a third place, and three honorable mentions. This was the photo I entered in the "Animals" category, and it received an HM. I was very pleased!
This is one of my very favorite photos.
Nice photos, Karen, and congratulations on your photos entered in the Fredericksburg Photography Show. Five out of five .... hard to beat that.
Hi Karen, Love those Green Herons with their fuzzy heads. Congratulations on your success at the Photography Show!
Thanks for starting the new thread.
Great pictures on the last thread everyone. Red, I would have immediately left the area if I'd seen any kind of snake!
Wild Rose, thank you for the great new start. Your GH babies are just adorable. What fun to be able to watch them. Congratulations on your awards for your photos. Your heron is beautiful. Do we get to see your other winning pictures too?
I have just a few Lesser Goldfinches still at my seed feeder and once in a while they'll come up to the second floor deck to say hello.
Wild Rose...great start!! I just love the second photo! It must be so nice to have them nest were you can go watch them. Congratulations on the awards you won with your photos!
Beautiful oriole duc...I just hate that ours are no longer coming by.
Ooh how I love your pics. Wild Rose, definately we need to houseswap. lol. Congrats on your photography awards and accomplishment. Duc, I love all the juvies you've got. I saw an Orchard Oriole here the other day. I was so proud.
Not sure if these are Pekins ducks. The sight of them was enough to make me happy.
Thanks to all for the nice comments! Since it would be OT, as they are not all bird shots... per Duc's request, here are links to the other four photos from the show.

Duc... your photos are always so clear and pretty! Love the golfinch.
Lily... I would probably never leave your deck if I was there! But then again, I bet the bugs would eat me up eventually!
VA_Wild_Rose, thanks for the new thread. AND your winning photos are magnificent.
Oh man, ducbucln - what a great shot of the Scrub Jay juvy!
Hey Lily_love, are those Pekin ducks same as the one in the AFLAC commercial?
f_chisolm, those Least Bitterns are some unique looking birds. Nice. AND your GB Heron looks as if he/she owns the place - regal.

Great news, the EBB tribe fledged today! I hope they all make it safely through their first night. I saw one hopping across the ground to cover. I hope no predators saw it.
I was able to snap my first photo of the Mississippi Kite baby & Momma that are nesting in my front yard. It's very difficult to see, because it's roughly 30 ft up,near the top of an Oak Tree. I don't know if there is more than one baby.
f_chisolm... I love that photo of the female Least Bittern! Beautiful bird!
Hack... thank you for the nice comments! I especially like your young Cardinal and Mockingbird!
thebestmissy... How neat that you have discovered the Kite nest! I hope you will be able to continue to watch and photogragh them!
Great shots everyone!
Missy, Seriously cool that you have a Kite nest in your yard, keep us posted.
Congratulations VA, The photos are wonderful!
Beautiful Herons to start the thread off with, Wild Rose. Congratulations on you winning photos. Well deserved. I don't blame you for having the shot of the Heron with the fish as one of your favourites. It's a wonderful image.
Love your Heron, too, Frank
Nice ones, Hack. The Nuthatches are so cute.
Missy, that's really wonderful to have Kites nesting in your yard. I look forward to more photos.
Nice ducks, Lily_love.
Beautiful crisp and clear shots, as always, duc.
One wet New Holland Honeyeater.
Great pict of the Silvereye. What a darling bird! I love the last shot with his crazy face.
Hey guys, I was recommended and downloaded a great free software that greatly reduces noise in a picture.
You may not have heard of it, I hadn't. It is called Neat Image.

Lily, it sure must have been a fun day watching all those ducks.
Wild Rose, I really enjoyed seeing all the winning photos. Thanks and again, congratulations. They're all beautiful.
Frank, your Least Bitterns are breathtaking. I've just had the good fortune to photograph them twice here and I know how hard it is to find them. What a great sight to see them out in the open as you have. Nice job on the Green Heron too!
Hack, great job on the pair of Cardinals. Is that Nuthatch a juvie?
Missy, gosh I've never seen a Kite in a nest before. Lucky you! Hope to see more pictures.
Margaret, I love the colors of that Honeyeater-such a beautiful photo with the branches. The Silvereye is another beauty.
I think this is an Ash-throated Flycatcher that was trying to cool off after chasing another one from this branch.
