In late April, I watched the Great Blue Herons during the Shad spawning run on the Rappahannock River. I posted a shot similar to this one back then, showing one of them catching a fish. This shot is two or three frames earlier, but I liked this one because of the blood droplets around the fish.

In late June, I entered five photos in the Fredericksburg Photography Show, on the urging of some friends. This was a first for me, to print, matt, and show my photos in public. Out of the five photos, I received a first place, a third place, and three honorable mentions. This was the photo I entered in the "Animals" category, and it received an HM. I was very pleased!

This is one of my very favorite photos.
