A tree - which I am unable to identify in my back yard is now over run with moss at all the branch joints. It did not have moss a couple of years ago when we bought the house. Now the moss growth seems to be increasing faster.
The tree is in the Washington (Seattle area) and is deciduous. It is about 20 feet high and otherwise appears healthy.
Should I be getting rid of the moss? How? I would like to avoid putting any chemicals on the tree.
Should I be worried about moss growing on tree trunk?
There was a discussion about this on another thread with a link to an article you might find useful. The link is:

I've had moss on several of my trees for the past few years and it hasn't damaged them at all. Also, I love to roam around in the woods with my camera and have seen many trees that are covered in lichen or moss and the trees are thriving beautifully. I think reading the article will put your mind at ease.
