It shouldn't be but a few days before we have juvie Robins too. How about photo of a Robin on the nest? I either need a longer lens or a tall ladder.

Thanks Nan, for the new thread. As usual, I've some to share on this one. FOTV; I need a tall ladder here too. lol, only your Robin nest looks much better. Ha! What kind of fruits are those lovelies? A smart bird! Didn't have to go too far to refuel.

Awww, nice series on that elusive hummer, hg.

Gotta strain your eyes to find this female Northern Cardinal braving the heat while sitting on her nest.

Can't miss that orange beak Lily. LOL

LOL on all the pictures.

This Oak Titmouse was testing the water and flew down to it, dipped the feet and flew to the side-at least 3 times before it finally jumped all the way in. Just wish I'd gotten a better picture of the dipping technique.

Nice start, nanny.

Man, you guys sure take some lousy shots. lol

See, you ought to try to do one like this. See how pretty my feeder looks.

And this one's worse.

Mama & Papa Robin have been taking turns feeding their fledglings religiously for the past several weeks.

Thumbnail by FruitOfTheVine

There were at least three babies in the nest flapping their wings yesterday and knew they'd be gone in the next day or two. The nest was empty this afternoon and found this one that appears to have a broken leg not too far from the nest. Last I checked, Moma is still feeding it :)

So sad - the one with the busted leg.

Hack

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Looks OK there, or is it the other leg? Even so, with the leg still soft and growing, it should repair quickly.

Resin

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

AWW,nice bad photos anyway=}

Look at the leg at the top of the pic, under the bird, pointing rearward.

Hack

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Ouch. Yes that leg in the upper left of the photo looks bad. poor buddy.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Ouch! Hadn't seen that! I only looked below the bird . . .

Unlikely to survive - the leg will interfere with flying, so it'll be an easy target for a predator.

Oh how sad is that baby Robin!

Children don't play fair sometimes, a juvie House Finch tries to intimidate a Juvie Cardinal at the lunch buffet.

Humm, I think the larger juvy Card, may just eat the juvy HOFIN's lunch.

Hack

My thinking, Hack. Another nice bad one, LIly_Love :)

The baby Robin was still here yesterday but no sign of it today, including any aftermatch of feathers. But who knows since we see a pair of Red Shouldered Hawks fly over nearly every day. The Mom Robin is already building a new nest. That'll make the 3rd one this year in the same Cherry tree. Hadn't noticed that behaviour from Robins before and wondered if it's normal for them to abandon prior nests?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Hah, with all respect. Hack and FOTV, my view is that dynamite comes in small packages as evidence by Willy Wagtails attacking Ospreys (as in down under), Mockingbirds attacking Hawks ects. I was so tickled the other day when I saw a Mockingbirds attacking my beloved Golden Retriever. The dog did never notice the pesky Mockingbird hovering above its field of vision, but the bird chased the dog, then occassionally dive bombed the dog for a good long while before it abandon the chase. lol.

Here is another awful pic of Great Blue Heron in flight. (I think).

I understand what you mean lily. My aunt has some kind of puny, little dog, who thinks he can whip anything on 4 legs. He's not afraid of anything. He's just lucky that all the other dogs he chooses to "attack" pay him no mind.
