I'm finding conflicting advice on the 'net regarding the best commercial-type fertilizer to use on flowering plants. Some sites say it's best to use a product with a high phosphorous content (marketed as "high bloom" fertilizers), while others say it's best to use a more balanced fertilizer with a higher nitrogen content. Is one preferable over the other for perennial flowers? How about annuals? I'm growing coneflowers, dahlias, phlox, daisies, and pentas, which fertilizer would be best for these types of plants?
High Phosphorous Vs. High Nitrogen Fertilizer
The best fertilizer is the one that your soil needs. Best bet to have your soil tested and find out what it needs.
Good advice, thanks.
