container for rooting strawberries

Anyone got any ideas on a good container to root in runners? My strawberries are in tall 4x4 planters, and the runners hang down the sides and can't reach the soil. I'd like to root them in something, but I need some containers I can put on the side to do it. I thought maybe a tray from wallpapering with holes in it? Wondering if anyone had a better idea...TIA

Do you have a picture of your strawberries? I would love to find a new way of having them without them being on the ground.
