Hi everybody, I was wondering, how do you get lavender to bloom? I bought it this spring, it was full of beautiful blooms that lasted about two weeks, they turned brown, stopped blooming and now nothing. I read on the internet to prune them back, so I did. I hope I did the right thing. Does anyone have any tips for helping me grow healthy, beautiful lavender? Thanks.
How do I get my Lavender to bloom?
You have done the correct thing by pruning the plant back. It will take a little time but you should be rewarded for your efforts. The second bloom is usually not as robust as the first.
Also lavender loves full sun and well drained soil. Adding lime to the soil will raise the pH. They like it on the sweet side. Make usre you did not palnt iot too deep as it's woody stem does not like soil covering it.
Thank you so much, I didn't know about the not so deep soil, and I was watering it to much at first. I will also check into the lime for my soil pH. :)
And I was a bit worried I may have pruned my lavender to soon. Thanks for telling me it was the right thing to do. :)
This is my first lavender, but I can already tell, I want more. :D
Thanks for your quick replies.
