I have two tall containers with silver lace vines in them. They are about 3 feet tall and about 12" diameter (round). The silver lace is doing terribly this year - small leaves, then yellow, now barely any foliage at all - whatssup with that? I thought this vine could grow anywhere and was indestructible?
I am in NYC and have it on a N facing exposure -- light in the morning and afternoon from the east and west, respectively. This should be fine as vine does OK in shady areas... Vines in third year. Any advice on how to grow these in a container would be much appreciated - thanks!
silver lace vine in containers - need help!!
It's a really big vigorous vine--could be it's gotten very rootbound after being in the containers for a couple of years. Assuming it looked OK in previous years that is one possibility. Or it could need fertilizer--you don't mention how you've been feeding it. Either that or I know you've been having some really hot weather lately, so it could be they just haven't been getting enough water during the heat wave. Or else if they're in dark colored containers the heat from the sun gets absorbed by the container and can basically cook the roots which could also cause symptoms like that.
