Hello all,
I was just recently bitten by the gardening bug and I am really enjoying it. I have had some success and some failure. I figure the best way to learn is to dive right in. I am having decent success with some container stuff. The only thing I have in the ground as of now is an eggplant and a potato. The potato came up from some that were sprouting in a buddies kitchen. I put them in the ground and up one came.
So I have big dirt spot that needs plants. Any suggestions of anything I can start now and have a little success with to build my confidence. I don't care what it is I just want to watch it grow and hopefully eat it. :-)
Thank you in advance
Jeremy
What to start in Phoenix?????
Hey Jeremy...
Welcome to Dave's! Glad to see you checked in on the SW Forum already...
Here's the low desert planting calendar I use as a guide. Not much you can successfully plant now, but fall planting is literally right around the corner... You could still try squash, pumpkins, basil, okra and sweet potatoes.

Now's the time to seed tomatoes indoors, so that in 6 or wight weeks the seelings are ready to hit the soil for a fall crop.
