My green heirloom tomatoes are being eaten before they ripen. It looks like something is carving away the skin and the fruit inside. Almost like it's shaved. There is no evidence of mice or rat droppings so that's not what's getting to them. I was thinking birds. Anyone have any ideas?

Could also be a turtle. I had one baffeling me for a week before i cought him in the act. That is if the bites are fairly close to the ground turtles can stretch their necks.
