I'm happy that Roy Halladay is getting some national attention. He's been a great pitcher his entire career but it seems like only diehard baseball fans knew he was while he played for Toronto. He's clearly one of the game's most talented players and last night we witnessed him make history. And to think, that was his first playoff appearance in his career. What will he do for an encore?
Sports Talk!! Part 4
True. And a perfect game earlier in the year!
i think toronto wanted lester and ellsbury for him - just too much - he would have looked good in red socks.
Didn't know Don Larsen is still alive. Just read he congratulated Halladay.
Why did the Pats get rid of Moss? Too old?
he was barking about being on the last year of his contract with no negotiations going on - also had a blow up with the qb coach at half time against miami - all no no's in pat's land.
Ah. Did seem sudden.
Moss can possibly play in 17 reg season games!
wow - si had interesting on number of football games played and life expectantcy of the players - we should go back to a 14 game season with additional weeks off if we must.
I completely agree and now they're considering 18! Crazy. All about money. All four major sports have seasons that are too long.
I agree, they are starting to run into each other.
supposedly Moss asked to be traded. the Packers really don't need 2 games against him now that they are a defensive back short due to injury.
Anyone into College football?
I like the idea of the NFL expanding to 18 or even 19 weeks but I think they shouldn't add games - just give teams another bye week or two. I love watching football on Sundays so the expanded season would be good for me as a fan and good for the NFL thanks to tv revenue. By not adding games to the schedule, the players' bodies wouldn't have to go through additional trauma and the union would be more likely to agree to the new schedule.
That's a great idea Sox! Tho I love football, 3 games on Sunday is one too many.
I like college ball, Jen....I follow Uconn, but also like to watch the top teams in action.
I usually only watch the Jets. Watch other teams at playoff time. They should really show more mud wrestling.
U. of wisconsin football for me, except that I can't see any games here.
Hubby is diehard Penn State fan. Knows more about the college scores than the professional ones.
I followed everything when I ran the sports dept at JCP
Finally, one of the teams I am rooting for - the Giants - won!
i think i have changed from the twinkies to the rangers - still upset about that fan in yankee stadium catching the ball that would have been an out called a hr years back.
Rangers are rolling.
you have to like what nolan ryan has brought to the team the last few years.
Yes, he turned them around....also glad Giants won....even if it's Cox's last year with Atlanta, still can't root for them.....
new phrase we will be hearing - "i was just brett farved" or "i brett farved her"
unbelievable.
What a moron. Tired of hearing about him - every year with the retirement question, and now this.
Go Giants! Beat those Phillies.
Go Tampa!
Hope the Giants take it all!
What I saw of the Jets last night they looked good.I crashed before Minnasota scored ,they must have perked up later on.When Farve dropped the second fumble I had enough
Yes - pretty good start for my Jets.
It's a long season.
Texas should give the Yanks a good challenge.
glad texas beat the rays
Me, too, Bill.....nice to see a different team competing...
Hasn't Texas been in the payoffs more than the Rays??
they have not been too the playoffs in a long time
Rays only made it twice.
they made it the last two years - so marilyn is correct texas is a new team - been maybe 10 yrs since they got robbed by the kid in right field at yankee stadium
No - they made it in '08 and this year.
check your facts my friend - last playoff appearance was in 1999. In 2008 they finished 4th in the AL West.

Anyway I hope they beat the Evil empire.
