I ran into the 2 scariest terrorist-looking types in the Portland, ME parking garage....my late DH felt like me, that they were not simply tourists.
Sports Talk!! Part 4
I would no longer want to live there, but love to visit. No other place has the same vibe. You can find something to do at ANY time of day.
The 9/11 guys did go to Maine first that day.
Lee was dealt to Texas.
Awww jezz, you guys don't like NYC?! I'm shocked! I really, truly am shocked!
- Wait a minute let me see if I care, I'll be right back...
... nope, can't say that I do. (lol!!)
Shoot! The Mets really could have used him. Yes, I was in Maine on 9/11.....went to an isolated beach.....after walking by myself, came back through the dunes to find 2 creepy looking men with binoculars...and not dressed for the beach....the only other car other than mine...it had NY plates. At that time, we did not know the terrorists flew out of Maine, but when I found out, I thought of those two immediately.
I wasn't blaming NYC for the terroists--was just saying where we stayed. I just have no reason to go there & don't wish to. We don't wind up in boston very often either.
i admire your NYC loyalty victor - as misplaced as it is:)
most of us are loyal to where we grew up.
^_^
I feel very much a badger, even though I have now lived in New England longer. Go Pack!
I like CT, but I grew up in Waterbury, home of all the corrupt politicians!
the whole NE is full of corrupt politicans
Yep, but Waterbury is special. We used to live in Cheshire. The husband of a friend was on the board (aldermen?) when some were found to have taken free TV sets. You can bet that his friends had fun with that one, although he was new on the board.
My Dad was on the Board of Aldermen in the late 40's or early 50's....he only stayed one term because of the rampant corruption.....two former mayors (recent ones) & a recent gov. all from Waterbury are either in jail or have recently been released from jail.
I am totally not loyal to NJ....I want to get out of here so bad!!!
I am a country girl at heart. The only city I was impressed with was Pittsburgh, it was clean, wouldn't mind leaving in the suburbs there.
NY is way too crowded for me and it smells. I was on the outskirts of Boston but never saw the city. I was in Chicago when I was Jr High so don't remember a lot but it was windy and going up the Sears tower was real cool.
I try to avoid any of the cities in Jersey- Trenton, Camden, Jersey City, Newark..... UGH
I grew up in New England, so that is where my heart is.
I'm a city boy, NYC is the only city that impresses me, all the others I've lived/ stayed in, are too small, slow and 'sleepy'. But now that I'm older I prefer to live on the outskirts of NYC and enjoy what the city has to offer at my choosing, retreating to the quiet of the suburbs after I've had my fill.

Santana came through once more.
Yes - he's looking like the real Santana lately. I think we'll keep him. ^_^
I was rooting for the Dutch. I'm a jinx!
Si Señor!
Hee hee. Maybe Spain will get some help with its awful economy now!
Neither team had won before, someone had to lose. Paul the octopus picked the correct winner.
Who do you think will win the Home Run Derby tonight? I'm almost always surprised by the winner so I shouldn't even hazard a guess, but just for fun I'm going to say that Vernon Wells will win it. I'm rooting for Big Papi though!
No idea!
i'll root for david too - although i hope he is out after the second round so he does not mess himself out for the rest of the season - it's good to have the big guy back in form!!
Think they'll catch the Yankees???
if we get healthy - yes
george steinbrenner passed away this morning
It's a weird feeling as a Red Sox fan to hear this news. For so many years Steinbrenner represented the #1 enemy and I loved to hate him. But I'd be remiss if I didn't admit that I think he was a good owner and if I had been a Yankees fan I would have been glad to have an owner doing whatever it takes to win.
I never liked him back in the day either, but I do respect what he did. And personally, he was a nice guy. Did LOTS for charity, was very loyal and would give people second and third chances. He gave Gooden and Strawberry second leases on life. His sons don't match him in character.
He gave Steve Howe a bunch of chances to come back from his drug problems too.
Yes, though that is a guy who had way TOO MANY second chances.
With Matt Garza's no hitter yesterday there are now just two baseball franchises without a no-hitter in their history: the Padres and the Mets.
Went to Trenton Thunder game last night they played Boston who has the shortest 2nd baseman I've ever seen...5'3"
wow a mini pedroia
We thought a high schooler snuck in to play!
Good for him! Sometimes it seems like all the sports have very tall players. I came close to seeing a no hitter by David Cone at Shea quite a few years ago....think there was one out in the ninth when he lost it. Our group was able to sit right behind home plate as there was a liquid dripping down on us in the seats we bought tickets for......
