how do i get rid of wild portulaca?

We have the common wild portulaca taking over everything! It has crowded out gardens, lawns and even driveways. How do I get rid of it without destroying the soil. I don't want to contaminate any of my soil, as we love the garden.

There is so much of it, we would never be able to eat all of it, not to mention that to me, it is a weed. But Thanks anyway.

By pulling it up by the roots, running it over with the lawnmower so it can't flower, or by using a good herbicide like Roundup or Weed-B-Gone.
