What is in full bloom right now? JULY 1st - JULY 15TH 2010

We came from here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1108393/

What is in full bloom/color in your yard now? Help me build our bloom database by sharing what you feel is at it's peak right now.
Pictures are not necessary, but are always very much enjoyed. Snipets of other people's gardens are always a joy, and what a wonderful way to discover new plants that you simply MUST have!

A week of warmer weather has finally brought out the color in the garden... surprises popping everywhere you look. Roses and the early daylilies are finally starting to show their beautiful faces in my garden.

This is daylily Volcano Queen. The blossom is still distorted from the cool weather we had in early June, but the coloring is one of my favorites so I am posting it anyway.

Ooooooooh. That's gorgeous!

Lake Stevens, WA

Rarejem nice daylilys! Looking forward to more pictures of your hybrids. Pony you have some great photos too. Love you big lily pictures.

Thanks, Springcolor! :)

Hi 8zoner and welcome. Love your honeysuckle.

There are garden pesticides/chemicals that are approved for organic gardens. I use a few but I try not to because they do change the pH of the soil. This year I used some on the leaves of my broccoli and on the two roses that I have. Just once on the broccoli leaves seemed to get rid of the pests. And oh, the broccoli is wonderful!

The Tanamara DL Julie gave me is blooming now... so pretty! :)

Love both of those daylilies.

Don't know how much I'll be able to keep watered. We had 15 days above 90 in June and next week they are calling for several days at 100 with humidity. The last 3 days have been hot, but dry. I will be concentrating the water on the veggies and new perennials. Did I say that I don't do heat AND humidity very well?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Ahah! So you're where all our heat went! Sheesh- it's July and I have the furnace on. o.0

I don't like humidity with my heat either- makes it hard to breathe/move/think.

Vashon, WA(Zone 8b)

Wow, all these daylilies are amazing, and what names they have...Volcano Queen....that does give visions. I planted some rather small dayliles two years ago, and they are beginning to bloom but look a little lopsided for some reason.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Roses! Had to pick this bunch as they looked funny on the bush once I removed the leaves infected with black spot! They will need to stay outdoors to enjoy as Feisty cat is still here and she love to chomp on roses.

Bea you are the Queen of Roses. Those are beautiful.

Thanks Judi. The Blooms are great this year, but can not say that about the foliage.

Pony, Tanamara is looking good!

Holly, don't feel bad about your dl's being a little lopsided right now. The weather this week should straighten them out... like Pony said, they just don't open quite right when it is cool and wet.

Bea, your rose boquet is spectacular! I have a few bushes that sound just as you described... pretty flowers with no leaves. Maybe the warmer weather that is supposedly coming will let them recover a bit.

I found a few pretties this weekend that were worth sharing.

I think that the first blooms on Chicago Peace rate in my top 5. I love the coloring...

My back garden gate is awfully welcoming right now.....

I am just soooooo in love with my Toona tree (Toona sinensis) that Redchic influenced me to buy last year. I found out that the dratted slugs like it, but after I got them off of it, it has leafed out nicely. I can't wait until it gets bigger!

More Japanese iris are popping out. I am really glad that I don't have to choose a favorite because I love them all....

And another one....

Please ignore the white pipe in the creek.... maybe it will be safe to finally put it away for the summer this week....

Sunsprite was bright and cheery during the gloomy day yesterday. It is usually one of my first roses to bloom, so is a bit behind schedule this year, but is another that has held up well to the blackspot.

I love the look of this euphorbia right now. Was too tired to bend down and note the variety when I took the picture last night....

My planters are starting to look like they might become acceptable soon... the petunia sticks are even beginning to fill in a bit. I bought a few of the new lobelia varieties this year, and have been really happy with them. The flowers are a bit bigger and the plants are sturdier.

And a mountain picture just for fun. It was sure nice to see this this morning.... it has been hiding way to often this spring.

I've been having some pretty good success combatting black spot with Neem oil this cold wet spring. Good to know about the Daylily's opening up all crinkly & funny in the cool weather. I wondered why they were looking so sad.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Daaaang. Julie, everything looks so beautiful at your place. Worth the wait, huh? And I am SO envious- I want a Toona tree so bad. I'm determined to get one someday.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Your garden looks beautiful Julie. I sure hope with the second flush of rose blooms that some new healthy leave appear too!

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Beautiful Julie!!! love the toona tree.
Katie59 I apologize for confusing you (welcome to my world) How may I unconfuse you?
This is my Arisaema tortuosum. It's bloom always faces the window I just found out that they can be planted so the blooms face a certain way??

Thanks for the compliments guys! I wish I could find the pics of the full grown Toona tree that Redchic posted last spring... it was just breathtaking! I actually had to order mine from Greer's gardens in Oregon (RC hooked me up) because I could not find one locally. BTW.... did you notice that although I am complaining about the blackspot, all of the roses that I have taken pictures of have fairly nice leaves? I think that I am shunning the naked ones right now....

Linda, that is a lovely bloom! At least you can enjoy it from the inside...

Willow, your plants are looking great!

Kathy, Just FYI, my Scrophularia is doing great! I planted it in a spot that has alas been fairly neglected with this wet spring, and it is fighting it's way through the buttercups and looking wonderful! It is next to a clump of mini raspberry daylilies and purple phlox, so it should be a very impressive combo if I get the weeds cleared out.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

That's great, Julie. It's a no fuss plant in these parts for sure.

Linda, now I'm REALLY confused. How did you confuse me before?

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Okay - now I get it. It was on the previous thread and I had addressed a comment to "Linda". It was the other Linda to whom I was talking. Thistledownfarm Linda and Gwen and I were talking about the plant amendment called Messenger. So I think we're all good now. . .

(Linda)Gig Harbor, WA(Zone 8a)

Me and confusion go hand in hand thanks for letting me drag you in!! Ha

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Gypsy Dancer's initial blooms were colorless because of the cool, but it looks like the ones that are opening today have enjoyed the heat......
