i just planted a stell cherry tree and a black tartarian cherry tree. the black tartarian is looking droopy and sad while the stella is quite perky. any tips on why. I live in a southwestern desert climate, lancaster, california. i mixed some compost garden soil with the native hard clay dirt. any tips?
sad cherry tree
It's probably just transplant shock--I suspect your weather is fairly warm, and planting things when it's hot out is stressful for them. Make sure you're watering it enough, and if it's small and you can rig up some shade for it for a few weeks to protect it from the sun that may help too.
