Dany - Glad to see you are back from your trip! Love all the new bloom photos! :-)

Interesting comparison between your two Black Ipomoea batatas!

I have definitely noticed an interesting difference in not only vines but seeds of Sidare.

In the collage is a photo of seeds. They were all collected from the same Sidare vine just recently. I am also growing out some Sidare vines in a pot. Note the smaller vine in the bottom right where the arrow is pointing. That vine came from one of the smaller seeds. I sowed it to see if there was a noticeable difference. And as you and others can see ... there is!

I am thinking a smaller teacup/miniature Sidare. I thought that was kinda of cool and exciting since I not only love the Sidare but wanted a smaller weeping MG to grow in smaller pots. I will be experimenting further with this discovery to see how the smaller vine grows and blooms! Never a dull moment growing JMGs!

Dany, Love this new set of MG blooms. The Theressa is gorgeous, I love her color and the shape of her petals.
The pink from Karen is to die for.

Becky keep us posted re your Sidare experiment.

Dany - welcome back - your morning glories often seem to take us beyond what we thought we already knew

A month later my Hungary Asagao Plantation became a plantation of four o'clock. LOL
Advantage: the smell in the morning when I take my pictures.
Disadvantage: the dew!

The first picture of this thread ( or Q1044 ) is very fertile, there will be seeds for everyone!

First crossing of this year: Q 1044 with this one.
This year I did not have much imagination for my crosses, it is true that I did not have many flowers yet .

A new of today.

Star of India is a cultivar that has many facets. The cross is more or less visible!
I have 2 different fences with several plants, I can do my experience, with or without fertilizer high percentage of phosphorus.
Remember you the change of color in 2009.

Dany - VERY nice bloom photos and new cultivars! This one http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7975094 is really neat! Love the pattern and colors in this bloom!

Interesting leaf shapes on your I. purpureas! Purpurea vines that look like I. nils (trilobed leaves) and I. nils that look like I. purpureas (heart-shaped leaves)! LOL! Getting harder to tell species apart!

Now if we can just create species/cultivars that are resistant to disease/pests and have blooms that stay open all day! :-) That would be the ultimate in perfection!

I got a kick out of your Hungary Asagao Plantation photo taken recently. 4 O'Clocks throw so many seed volunteers. They can take over a garden area in no time at all. But ... I have to be totally honest ... it looks beautiful! And I happen to be a 4 O'Clock fan. I love the smell of them in the evening and early morning. It looks so pretty even if it was supposed to be an MG garden, not a 4 O'Clock garden area.

Your Star of India last year was amazing. Is this bloom photo that you posted today from an F1 of last year's vine?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Gorgeous blooms Dany.

Dany, I loved your 4 o'clocks. A shame you had to get rid of them.

szarvas, Hungary

I have also my Sky Blue Mt. Fuji from Karen.
beautiful blue !

Thumbnail by dany12
szarvas, Hungary

An hybrid that I'm proud! LOL
It is not huge (size between purpurea and tricolor), but into the garden, it draws the eye.

To have the perfect blue must wait 8 a. m. to get accurate temperature of the air.

An hour before this cultivar looks ordinary.
So I'm proud just after 8 am - this is chemistry!

Dany - it's so nice to see you here again - am enjoying your mg 'blues' very much. And what fun those 4 O'clocks were - I'd love it if you would share your other flowers, too - and the overall view of your garden with the river in the background is always such a treat.

Karen

Dany, on this one - http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7989627 - I understand about the intruder being destined for yanking - but it sure does bring drama to the preferred residents :)

Here Q 1044 from the National Japanese Collection.
Sometimes double flowers sometimes simple.
If they are double, the stamens are topped by a small flag. But they are not sterile!
I'll post a photo one day.
