soft grayish spots on my tomatoes
Without a picture, it's hard to tell, but I have one idea.
If you've have been having hot temperatures and intense, sunny days, your tomatoes may have sunscald. Excessive sunlight discolors patches on ripening tomatoes. They appear white first and then can darken to gray.
You can see some pictures and learn more here: http://www.tomatodirt.com/tomato-sunscald.html
Good luck and happy gardening!
