I don't think I have a heavily freckled one. Muscadet, one purported to be easy, does not want to grow in my garden, after 2-3 attempts.

I love Stunning, just luv it

That last one is not a lily, it's a daylily ^_^

Love Stunning, yes, very suitable name!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Stunning has been blooming here for the last 13 days and still has buds to open. It's great!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

I am very new to lillies and I have a lot of them, what is the difference between a lily and a daylily

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

A daylily is a fleshy rooted perennial while true lilies, Lilium, are bulbs.

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Thank you, then the Lilies I have that spread are daylillies, right

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Most likely. Some lilies increase so much that it's as though they spread, like 'Lollypop'.

A lily blooms on a stem and lily buds are all at the top. Daylilies bloom on "scapes" (several to a large clump of daylilies) and they have long leaves but true lilies do not.

Lily blooms can last for days whereas daylilies bloom for just one day but there are many buds on both lilies and daylilies for more blooms.

Hope I haven't totally confused you!

Greensburg, IN(Zone 6a)

Well it is a little confusing as my lillies have been blooming for a couple of weeks, some have different type leaves some are fan shaped, some are a straight, long leaf, and then I have som that have a lot of short leaves on a stem.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

A lot of short (shiny) leaves on a stem is more likely to be a true lily.

The really long leaved plants that grow in clumps are daylilies.

Daylilies look like this, with the grass like foliage from the base.

Thank you, now I know I have both *S*

Quote from pirl :
Both are gorgeous.

Did you want that wire rim of color on Boogie Woogie? It seldom looks like the promo photos for me.

This is year 2 for BOOGIE WOOGIE.

That seems to be the biggest complaint about BW. Very few get the pink rim like in the catalog photos show. I did get it a bit last year but none this year. And they are just a nondescript color with out it.

Sorry I am so late responding...we had storms last night so I shut down early! We have had 9 and a half inches of rain this month!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats a bummer on both counts.
Thanks for the info on BW.I'll take a pass.
It was rhumored the Volcano is the reason for the extreem weather.
I certainly hope the early spring doesnt mean an early winter.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

nanny - BW has been both good and not so good here. I agree that without the rim it's not really exciting.

An early winter would be dreadful, ge.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks D
It seems all the new openings I have watched for a week are opening on the back of the stem.Whats with that anyway?

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Maybe they are camera shy?

Isn't that 'Firestar' at the bottom right?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its from the Buggy mix

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I would bet it is Firestar:
