My Japanese Iris are looking less healthy this year, smaller clumps. Do they tend to fail over time, or am I failing to provide what they need? I admit to mostly ignoring them until they bloom, then I LOVE them.

ge, in your group shot, which is lovely by the way, there are a few bearded iris leaves showing the same rust stuff that mine have. What is that, do you know? The JI don't seem to get it, just the bearded ones.

East Bridgewater, MA

Loved the lilies with goat's beard backdrop, and everything else; I can see why 'Frosted Plum' is a fav.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I dont really know what the rust is.
MyJI's are suffering from too rich a soil.I am feeding with acid fertilizer in hopes of turning yellow leaves green again.
I ris in the area are medians and have passed bloom. They are going into summer yuchh

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

JI's are new to me.Just cant gt enough. Its a long wait but worth it.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Nice stuff once again all. Specially liked that shot of the veronica and coreopsis JoAnn.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Granitegneiss, once the Japanese start to produce smaller clumps you have to divide them. Replant them where Japanese irises have not grown before, and enrich the soil with some composted manure, and you should get good bloom for another 5 years or so.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Polly I didnt know that.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

They say the JIs poison the soil they're in. I don't know if I believe that or not, but they are such heavy feeders they definitely deplete it.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Maybe thats why mine are so yellow?

Thomaston, CT

Rama, I love the colors in that larkspur....mine never reseeded from last year :(....Jo, loved the color combo with the veronica....so soft. Thanks for the tip on the JI, Polly.....I will get some one of these days! This popped up by my mailbox...looks like a Dutch iris....do not remember planting it!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Jo, your JIs haven't been in long enough to deplete the soil. Keep on with that Miracle Gro For Acid Loving Plants.

Robin the blue on that iris is really gorgeous and plants that you think are gone and then come back strong just amaze me. Congrats on the rose returning to life.
Victor nice pics. Happy to see that helenium, mine are just starting to bloom. Is it Mardi Gras? That last pic is very nice what ever it is.
JoAnn all your JI are very pretty. They are like divas in the garden, wish they bloomed longer.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

me too.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Ge nice flowers. Love the coreopsis combo.
The DI is oh so gorgeous Robin.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oops - that was not helenium - thought it was too early for that! It's Gaillardia Tokajer. Sorry.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Victor, the DL looks like 'Chicago Heirloom' and the name you forgot? Hypericum?

Thomaston, CT

The no-names are very nice! Is the last photo a shrub, Victor?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - hypericum! Thanks. Yes, Robin - it does not die to the ground.

Hmm - Chicago Heirloom does not ring a bell, but it certainly could be. I'm sure I got it form you!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I used hypericum in Tiffanys bouquet last year, she really like the berries for a fall wedding.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice! It has the fall color in the foliage too - why I like it.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Great shots, everyone! Here are a few from me.

A NOID DL. This one is darker than the pic shows. Seems I couldn't get it dark enough.
