Sending Prayer for Bonjon and DH.........
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞192
Not sure how much she wants me to tell you...actually I don't know much. Just let me say that the nasty IRS is at their door AGAIN!
That's a serious affair, Cookie.
Good morning sistahs. Didn't return last night as I crashed.
Charleen, all are welcome to post pics of their blooms here, don't need to start a new thread. Even Charley's welcome!
Off to the doctor for myself. See you all later.
Boy she sure doesn't need the IRS at her door again! Saying prayers she has all the papers to prove she has done the right thing!
Jaye, glad to hear your going to the Dr. Take care!
Are you feeling better??, Jaye. Thank you Jaye. I still need to take a pic of Charley in Thunder's hat.
No one needs IRS troubles.
Amen to that!
OMG Tante-that Firestorm is gorgeous!!!
Oh man-hoping things go OK for Bon and DH...
Good Morning Ladies!!!
How are all of you doing???? Me?? Oh same old, same old. Taking care of Mom, she has been a bit cranky lately. Her knee is hurting her a lot and she is bored. Well, if she would have had this surgery done in the winter time then she would be able to be outside working with me. Plus they cancelled our visiting with my brother. They are doing budget cuts so they took one weekend a month from visiting.
I go to Curves Mon - Fri and then over to my daughters to pick up Taylor. I can't believe that come July 11 Taylor is going to be 8 years old. Man it seems like yesterday she was born.
Well ya all remember when I told you the racoon got into mom's pond and ate all but 2 fish. The weeds were about 3 feet high in back of the pond. So I got out there last week and tackled the weeds. I have been working on this area for 4 days now and hopefully today I will finish. I still need more plants to plant in back of it. However I left a foot wide space between the fence and Cannas (got from BJ when I lieved in Marysville) to plant Hollyhocks come fall. On each end of the Cannas are Butterfly Bushes one Pink Delight and one Black Knight, in front of the Canna are 2 Birds of Paradise. On the left side of the pond (if you can see those Iris) I am going to replant the Iris and there is a Rose of Sharon. There are other plants around the pond and I think I am going to get some Alyssums. Sitting in the pond is a bird bath that I made and the turtle is spitting water into it. Every afternoon a Ruby Throated Humming bird comes and drinks and baths. I tried to get his pix the ohter day. I was withing 2 feet and just ready to click when my mom decides to stand up. URRRR!!!!! Yesterday he was in it but I was in the garden shed and couldn't get to my camera without scaring him away. Today I will keep my camera in my pocket and see if I can't get his pix.
As you can see from all the black weed blocker exposed I still need more plants. My SIL is going to bring me some of those purple leaved Cannas. I don't know what else to plant in there. It gets the early morning sun until about 11ish then is shaded thru the hottest part of the day, then it gets the late afternoon sun.
After I am finished with that I will start working on putting in the 250 gallon pond which will be on the opposite side of the yard from this one. Doug is coming up today to stay until Wed. He is going to finish the cement walkway in the front garden and then help me with the new fish pond.
I have been reading up on the trip to Cookies, and I am so bummed that I can not be there :( It sounds like ya all are going to have a GRAND time.
Well Ladies hope you all have a good Thursday ^_^
After looking at the pix, I realized you can't see the Iris'. They are to the left of the Rose of Sharon.

Wow Cindy, looks like you have been very busy! Love hoew it is all coming together for you!
Prayers for your Mom for quick recovery. Knee surgery is so painfull, but she has to keep moving. Is she doing any therapy?
Yes LK, a young gal comes here to work with her BUT, she does not stay long so I really don't know what they do. When mom had her first surgery done in "01" the PT was there for 1 1/2 hours working with mom and I don't remember her having this much pain. She has ice packs on it alot. But she sits in the recliner all day long. She does not get out and walk hardly at all so.............................
I think this year I will have good luck with my Brugs out of nine 4 maybe 5 of them came back. I have been watering them with MG and fish poo water. When I emptied the pond I saved all of the water. They look really good too, so I'm hoping I will have some nice blooms this year. I don't know which is which, if any of them are the ones Jaye sent me a couple of years ago. I have them out in the front garden with my Lilies, they sit under the loquat tree and are shaded from the hot sun.
Oh, Cindy, I wish you could come, too. We'll be thinking of you!
Aren't ponds fun??? I just enjoy mine so much. I had a wonderful surprise the other day...I was sitting looking at the koi and lilies in the pond and I saw the tiniest little fish....baby koi. I've seen 5 so far, and they are cute, cute, cute!
I'm back! Having been poked, prodded and of course, purse is lightened.. I'm needing a good long nap!!!
Doctor's fees went up since a hospital bought out his practice. He finally conceded that it's my insulin that's giving me the weight gain :(
After 3 years of arguments there, it took a print out for him to change me from one to another!
But my AIC test came back good! Of course.. managed diabetes=weight gain for me :(
Blood pressure? Had to double up on the med. Bad thing is the muscle relaxers I've been taking has elevate the bp.
Now I'm waiting on my cholestrol result.
Hmmm... good news is... at least I had tthe cash to pay all these charges!!! Lolol.. (No Mexican food for Kel for a week)
Cindy, you could plant some tall growing hedychiums (gingers) there. The flowers are fragrant and will attract butterflies. I have the white common ones and the peach too.
If you could wait, I'll send you some next year along with some spider lilies.
Will try to tag my spiders or at least remember where they are. How's your Bali Watercolor doing Stacey.
Thanks for your prayers, sistahs.
Sistahs.. (you're a sistah too, Charleen) many times I've"lauged" off my worries to you all about my physical condition but you are smart enough to know that I'm boohooing on your shoulders!!
I thank the Lord for you all.
Sistah Judy, sorry I miss your call!!
Gonna take a nap and do a LK. Be on the sewing machine!!
Oh Jaye that would be cool yes I'll wait ^_^
Joyce, baby Koi how awesome. Mom wants a Koi so that is what I'm going to get her for her b-day this Sunday she will be 83. Going bbq a tri-tip yum yum.
Love ya, girl. take it easy. Proud to be with all my Sistas.
Weight gain from mediine is very often the truth. If you have to take Steroids, it's even worse.
Cotizone shots will make you gain weight too.
Always something.
I know those Koi were Precious. I have three in a pond. Hope they are happy, like yours.
WOW Cindy, you've been busy busy busy! Lookin' good!! I wish you could come to Cookie's too, that would be awesome! How's Doug?
Baby Koi!! Right On!!
Weight gain from medicine is the worse because you can't just stop eating junk and eat better, or cut down on how much food you eat altogether to lose it. Steroids add a ton of weight, and Cortizone shots have steroids in them, it's a mixture of steroid, anti-inflammatory, and pain killers. Jaye I'm sorry, that sucks. How long have you been getting Insulin shots?
I have this packet of stuff to work on, but it has so much information in it, it's just confusing me. I need to section it out and work on one thing at a time.
Baby Koi will grow up to be delicious pan fried Koi ;)
Ahhh... Crissy... you understand what I'm facing. I've been on insulin for 3 years now. My doctor kept telling me I need to exercise more. But I'm doing that and told him that I have to do MORE than a non insulin dependant person. He said it's me all these years.. but when I do lose weight... why is it that he knew, before the AIC check that I'm not sticking to my insulin regimen.
Diabetics have died trying to maintain their figure.. he knows that!
But today, after he's forced to read the printouts I obtained online on the truth.. he agreed to change to another long acting insulin that WON'T make me gain too much.
Why oh why couldn't he do that years ago and all this could have prevented my depression!
I'm still on Humalog, taken before meals and after if needed.
But the biggest culprit is Lantus.. that's a long acting one.. especially for the nights when my pancreas is not producing enough insulin.
I have gained too much! On top of that, I'm taking Lyrica, and that's a double jeopardy!!
Sigh.. when walking around the house or on the treadmill, I have no fear of falling but not on unknown terrain. That's why I always shop with Kel next to me.
I walk like a 100 year old woman now. 100 steps... 2 minute break.. if not my knees will give out on me.
That's why I rather not join the excursion at Cookie's cause I'll just be holding everyone else up.

Yes I have ^_^ Doug is fine he is here with me now. We are sitting outside having a beer and he is trying to shoot a blue jay. I have 4 birdhouses with babies and the blue jay is trying to kill them.
Jaye I am so glad you looked that up, it's flat out pooey! My step dad weighed 550 pounds when he married my mom and was diabetic and took 3 shots of insulin a day, his doctor told him that he was a ticking time bomb because it was too dangerous to lose the weight, but too dangerous to keep it. After getting tired of my mom's bellyaching over it he put himself on a diet and started walking and riding his bike,
and guess what went away with the weight... the diabetes! He's now 225 I think and has No Health Problems at 62 years old.
Get 'em Doug!!
I can feel you pain from being poked and prodded today Jaye. Had the same this morning but I did get a good report so far. Thank goodness for that. I am still able to manage mine with diet but it does get hard to do and takes a lots of will power. Somedays I just don't think I have it in me but then I think..............
It is unbearable hot here and I am so hoping we get some of this rain that has been circling us so far this week. Everything is wilted and so pitiful looking.
My DH has Type 2 and takes shots twice a day.
It is a bad serious illness, have to go to eye Specialist twice a year. He has had Laser surgery on his eyes. But is much better DR. said.
Bless you all. Take care of yourselves.
Did the bluejay got Doug? They're smart birds, Cindy.
Charleen, diabetes is one illness with so many complications. Thank God, my eyes are not that bad.
That's good to read about your stepdad Cindy.
I started having diabetes when I was 21. Managed to keep off insulin with oral meds and keeping the weight down.
But after my heart's repumped..all of a sudden my pancreas quit producing enough insulin hence I'm dependant on these shots.
One good thing about this is.. I am my little niece's favorite Auntie, as she is too a diabetic but wears the pump.
Maid M., I'm happy to read your exam turns out good. Whatever you're doing, don't break it. But do allow yourself to 'stray', if not you'll start binging, which is worse!
Oh Jaye, Honey, there's no way you'll slow us down at Joan's! There is so much to see that you take two steps and stop...then you take two more steps and stop again. You'll have my mom's walker with a seat and if those knees start bothering you, YOU SIT DOWN on it! Please say you'll go, cause if you don't, I'm not....
Now....on to other subjects..I'm going to go have a talk with my koi...I'm going to tell them if they see the little oriental lady coming toward the pond with a fishing pole..........HIDE!!!!!
LOL yes Joyce for sure!! Koi are so pretty. I had 2 of them when I lived in another place. Then we had to move and moved here. I did not know that once Koi are in a pond they do not like to be moved and will jump out. Yup jumped out they did I found one of them laying on the ground, got him back in the water in time but then he jumped out again a couiple of weeks later this time he was not so lucky :( He was rare too. A freind gave him to me she had him in a tank and he was getting to big so i put him in the 500 gallon fish pond. He was a root beer color and very hard to find. As for the other one do know when she jumped out of the pond.
Oh and Jaye, it is Crissy's step dad not me ^_^
Wow Jaye, thanks for sharing that! My Godfather was a diabetic since he was a teenager and he was 6'4" and always skinny as a rail, so skinny you could see his bones. After many many years of not taking care of himself and refusing to eat the right foods, it got him, but after he went through the whole foot infection and being put on an insulin pump. He was always going on cruises with my Godmother, going to baseball and football games, you name it he was doing it!
Too funny Cookie!!! You've nothing to worry about!!! Kois are safe around me, I don't eat pets!!
Sorry Cindy.
Crissy, one day there'll be a cure for diabetes.
Cookie has family praying and 'walking' for a cure too.
We had supper with Kel's parents tonight, an early Father's Day feast.
Called in pizza and pasta from Domino's and they were surprisingly good.
I had the Chicken Carbonara with penne pasta, it wasn't too cheesy and the guys had their own meat pizzas. There wasn't too much gooey sauce nor cheese neither, but the flavor was 'spot on'.
This is Murdock's first pizza in a year.
Hi all........hope and pray everything is good.
Haven't seen Susan post lately........???
You guys have to look at this ,it is sooooooo Awesome, wish I could do it. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1108474/#new
Synda, Susan does post 'elsewhere'.
How have your kidneys been doing? You must be flushing out toxins by the gallons!
My kidneys still hurt.......can't wait until the 28th and I see the docotor, praying for some direction from this one.
How are you doing Jaye????? Hopefully taking care of yourself !!!!
Don't you worry too much sistah. You are in His hands.
I've seen a living wall once, but indoors, in a high rise apartment.
This guy's wall was filled with different kinds of bromeliads.
Thanks Synda for that link.
Tante-I am right there with you on the walking. When I walk too far or too fast it hurts. Feels like my bladder or something is going to fall out, so I have to take it nice and easy. You and I will be great companions for the trip. I will be your Kel for a while, but I won't be as handsome or as funny-sorry;) If we get too tired we will go back and wait for the rest at the front. I am sure we can entertain ourselves for a bit;)
My cousin who is 19 has type 1 diabetes and has had it since she was a kid. She wears the stint and pump to get the continual feed of insulin. For years she hasn't been doing what she should, but after the birth of her baby in March, she has been doing better with it. She is having trouble though. Because of her age she isn't on her parents insurance anymore and she isn't working, so no way to pay for her meds. The state won't help so now she is looking into places like the different Diabetes foundations to see if they have any way or a lead to a place that will help her get what she needs.
Oh WOW-that wall is awesome!!!!
OOOOOOOO-I CAN'T wait to see the baby Koi!!!!!!
I would love to have a pond and plan to as soon as we get a new deck. I know I've shown pics of what we want B4-the 3 leaf design-and I want to put a pond nestled into the R side just under our bay window for the living room. Far in the future though;)
Jaye, We are all her for you, so you just come and realx here. We all have shoulders to lean or cry on! Sorry your going through so much.
Morning everyone!
Just popping in to let you all know, I will be missing this week-end. back to San Antonio for a follow up Dr.'s appt.
I will vbe back Sunday sometime.
You all have a great week-end!
Good morning!!
It's off to a good start today, rain last night so a break from the heat plus watering.
Stacey, thanks for the kind words. But I think Alexandra will be needing me for support! We'll just prop each other up!!
LK, I'm feeling much better now after baring it all. It's truly hard to stay positive 24/7 and something got to give. Guess that's why the Lord makes friends like y'all!!
Have a safe trip and hope it's good news with your doctor too.
Happy Birthday Julie!!!! May you have PEACE, laughter and joy in unwrapping your pressies!!
Awesome Jaye! So glad Murdock enjoyed his pizza! That's great news!
Synda that is awesome! Susan does have membership here and I've seen her somewhere, just a day or two ago, maybe Best/Worst/Learn thread...
Jaye it is hard to stay positive, there are a lot of days I struggle with my situation(s) but just keep on plugging along, and plugging, and plugging. It'll be alright, I mean, what's it going to be, not alright? That's just not an option. There will be a cure for Diabetes some day, they have come a long ways since the mid 80's.
Jordyn has had diabetes since right before her 11th birthday. She's 16 now. They are still saying that there could be a cure in her lifetime. I certainly pray that is true. However, since she got her pump, she has been doing so well. Thank God for that... you sisters have always come through with your donations for "Walk for a Cure" and I can't thank you enough. Just love ya'll to death!
I didn't know that about koi jumping out, Cindy...wow. I was gifted two LARGE koi last year that had outgrown a small pond. So they came to live in my new 5,000 gallon pond, and they weren't unhappy at all! They just swam and checked it all out and settled in. They're two of my favorites now, and I think one of them may be the daddy to the babies!
I don't think you girls are going to have trouble with the garden tour. Remember this is in a platt, and not acres and acres. It's just the way she has it laid out that is so awesome. Just wait, you'll see....
Ooohhhh forgot to tell you...talked to Kathy last night and she goes to see the cardiologist on Monday. Then on Thursday she goes for her tests. It's not looking good that she'll be coming to the RU now....I'm bummed....
Bummer for Kathy, but I'm glad she's getting it done and not waiting.
I can't wait to see all that you have, and the tour!!!
Tante-maybe we will lean in and prop each other like tweedle dee and tweedle dum on the new Alice in Wonderland-tee hee hee-loved those little guys!!LOL And you are sure it is an Alexandra not a Jonathan??
Well each to his own Tink!! I still like the Mad Hatter--of course did like his looks better as a pirate.
Humm funny thing, Kim and I have been watching the Robin Hood series that was on the BBC and believe me there is some good eye candy in that too! LOL Check out Richard Armitage--piercing blue eyes.
Piercing blue eyes.... hmmm.... Maid M, it's time for me to follow that series then!
Drats and triple drats!!! I have a bad case of CRS!! Julie's b'day was yesterday!! Sorry Julie.. late as always here!!
Stacey, you never know. You might get both!! Double pram on your list?
Cookie, Lord willing, we'll do this every year too, supporting Jordyn and Siti (my niece) till they find a cure.
My sister told me that in France they are experimenting with stem cells, but only on adults.
Let's hope they are successful.
Awww Sis Kathy.. so looking forward to seeing you. But your health is important to us and there's always another year.
Be strong, sis.. we'll be praying for you.
