Millville, NJ

I have a purple wandering jew (aka inch plant) that is mass producing!!! And I have a hard time throwing away living plants..... Any one interested in either cuttings or rooted small plants? Would love to add different houseplants to my arsenal or else will ship if you'll cover the postage costs. Thanks!

Er, they'll root in water, right? Or with rooting hormone and vermiculite? You probably don't want to be putting your address in a public forum like that, though, much safer to Dmail it! I could paypal you $5.50, would that be good enough?

They root just fine in water. You can also just stick them directly in the soil and keep it well watered for a week. They aren't picky. I'll D-mail you.

Would you be able to accept a paypal for shipping :) I would love a piece :) *pre root is fine*

Lovely plant and great shipping/packing by this member, I'd like to add!

Thank you! If you have any issues, let me know -- there's plenty more!

I'm interested if you still have some 'wandering' around. Either cuttings or prerooted.

I'm glad I found this thread. It reminded me of my dear Granny's garden in New Orleans, as she always had these growing, and I've always wanted some since. I finally treated myself to one, and after I see how it does here, I'll get more. I was afraid to ask for cuttings to be mailed in this awful heat!

I'm sure when it cools I'll still have plenty! It multiplies too quickly for me to keep up!

They must really love it there! What's your secret? lol

Actually they are all outdoors in this heat wave! Some are in morning sun, some under taller plants, etc. They are all potted in municipal compost (all my plants love it and so do I because it's free! - contact your municipality to see if yours does it). They get watered daily right now with the heat. That's the only care they get -- otherwise my 16yr son knockes over the pots, etc, the cats step on the plants, you name it, the plants have seen it!

Thanks, sounds like they will survive here with my seven kitties!

Sometimes when they get long, they turn brown and the stems get weak. Just break off the pieces and insert past a leaf node (the knobby "joint") directly into the soil and keep watered. They root quickly. I don't bother with rooting them in water unless I don't have room in the pot.

I remember my Granny had them growing in their own bed, and they put down roots at the joints, so they filled the whole bed.

They root just as easy in soil as water. I have 31 varieties of tradescathia (this is with other of the same family ) I have 18 small leafed and big leafed T's. Love them!

Wow, Tish! I'm curious--do they cross-pollinate to make interesting combination plants? lol, hey, ya never know, some plants will!

Mount Vernon, OH

They do cross them somehow. Some of the varigated ones will revert back to the plain green if you are not careful. But there is some real neat variations of the family. I keep finding new ones. The fuzzy one, sillomontana, and some of the others ones, are slow growers. Plus some like more shade than sun or the other way around. also on the watering is different. :o)
