Need advice on edible ground cover.

Saint Petersburg, FL

I have a 12' by 16' space surrounded by concrete and 3 palm trees in the middle. It gets full sun. Can someone recommend a edible ground cover I can use and maybe a place to buy it at a great price?

Thanks 2toby

Strawberries?

several folks have recommended perennial peanut as a beautiful carefree groundcover. But, by edible do you mean not poisonous?? I don't know about being able to (or wanting to) eat this plant, but I do not think it is harmful.

Yes I am going to use perennial peanut in place of my lawn. I want something that is going to stay alive year round, do strawberries live year round?

There are ever bearing strawberries that grow spring to frost, and I'm assuming down there you don't get much frost. So pretty much year round
