Venosa Violacea
2010 Garden Photos 18
Thanks, guys!
Jen, your penstemon shot looking skyward (3 threads back) is quite nice. Love your blossom in the clover patch, too (also 3 threads back).
Cousin Nut, your clem 'Stolwyck Gold' has gone on my wish list. So has 'Roller Coaster' mini climbing rose. Funny how wish lists go. They keep getting longer and longer, and I've bought plenty of plants this year, but none are on my wish list. What's up with that? Does that happen to anyone else? I would love to know what that blue species clem is that you got from Birdies. Too bad you couldn't send me some seed. I think that would not work, you being in Canada. Too many restrictions, me thinks.
Celeste, your yellow lupines are gorgeous! Your backlit shot of the purple lupines (3 threads back) is wonderful. Put that in the backlit thread. The backlit pink one is great, too!
Bill, I'm jealous of your foxglove/lupine forest. I may have to make a new bed devoted the them now.
Debilu, you were mentioning how your red twig dogwood has gotten too big, bigger than what it was supposed to be. I had read that you can cut it back to the ground each spring, I think. It's supposed to be a fast grower. How long have you had it?
Victor, is the purple color of that 'Twilight' clem correct (3 threads back)? I love it! I love your shot of the iris with the water droplet and the one with the bee. Would you mind if I used the latter one for my computer desktop?
Marilyn, I bought that Penstemon 'Sweet JoAnne' this year from High Country Gardens. Looking forward to seeing it bloom. I also bought that Arctic Fire dianthus this year. I love it! Your climbing 'John Davis' rose is beautiful.
Tex, you have lots of nice color at your place. Love it! Tex this is Rose Campion, a lychnis: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7878781 .
Patti, your iris bed in front of the house is gorgeous! I like the Francesca primula. I bought one last year from Tower Hill, too, and mine is looking nice. Still blooming! I have to take a pic.
Sherrie, your delphs are beautiful!
Meredith, I love your Mesa Verde ice plant.
Louise, I love your white lupine. I also love your funky, cool birdbath on the old well. Really nice! You have a really big place. I've always wanted a lot of acreage myself. Someday....
Allison, I love the hanging parrot planters. Tres chic!
JoAnne, you bath remodel is great. Will put you down for seeds on that Clarkia. Anyone else who would like some, please D-mail me.
Venu, great pic of the wren coming out of its house.
LOL!!!!!! That gnome video was tooooo funny!!!!!
GGK, that poppy shot is amazing!
Pat, love that Regal Spledor hosta. I ordered early from Annie's, but also just put in another order. This will be my third order this year. I wouldn't order annuals now. Those I'd order early. I love their stuff, and they do a great job packaging the plants. They're nice size, too.
SOJ, nice pics from today. You have your work cut out for yourself for tomorrow. I hope you have help.
Karen
wow - miss a couple days and this thread fly's by!! great shots everyone!!
celeste is that the rose quartz:)
Yes - great shots! Have to catch up.
Yes, Karen - that color was faithful. Go ahead and feel free to use the other pic.
Wow..... Nuts, Songs, Peoniae, beautiful plants and pics!
Karen, is the clarkia a short plant? I tried them from seed one year, but never got them into the ground:(
Jo, I was out sniffing the goatsbeard this morning. (that sounds kinda funny) Glad to hear you found the source of the scent :)
I have to try WS'ing some petunias... I threw some in a container that stays out all year... but it got so weed infested I am sure I ripped them all out with the weeds... oh well.. next year
Love that campanula, Karen. I've never had much luck with them.
Like the astilbe/hydrangea shot, Christina. Yes, that area has really progressed in one year!
Karen - be careful with that Painter's Palette. Kind of invasive - seed wise. Those clusters of little berries look nice when they bloom in the fall but if you don't cut them you'll have a gazillion seedling next spring. Literally! They're still growing all over even in my lawn and have to keep pulling them out.
Look at what greeted me today. I smelled it as soon as I went outside. My first fully opened Oriental of the season - Pink Heaven. This beauty is HUGE. The roses next to it are High Society and those are about 5-6". So I imagine this lily bloom is at least 10" across.
Good Morning everyone.Pretty busi last night with pix.All look great.
I am still waiting for my Astilbes to really open up.Looking great.
