I have never seen Wild & Crazy, I would love too see a Bloom of it, i think I got Dorthea from JT, but I am not positive about that, you go Pete is right if he came up with this one, it sure is a beauty, once it starts Bloooming it keeps going till frost

Big Sandy, TX(Zone 8a)

I think Pete got the seeds from someone in Germany and I am not sure who the seedling parent of Wild and crazy was. I thought I had a picture of Wild and Crazy but can not find one. I has W&C and can send a cutting this Fall. It is orange with long curly tendrils. I just got Dorthea from Veronica last Fall and it is one that is doing good. I should be in for a good many trades when all my new ones get some size to them.

Ladoga, IN(Zone 6a)

I also wanted you to know I love the red honeysuckle. If you get any seeds from it can you throw them my way?
I grew a cross of LWS x Miss b havin, then I gave the seedling away, I wish I hadn't of, those people kept pinchng it out and got mad cuz it didn't bloom, and when I asked about it they said they threw it away. * sigh* And they were master gardeners? I will be waiting for more bloom pictures from you, Elizabeth.

Charlene

Elizabeth, sent me part of that Pink Crown of Thorns.
I got to get you a list of the Brugs that I had that is planted. That Harlot is Gorgeous. I love it.
P&C is nice too. Mine didn't make it. But I got a Maya so I'm doing good.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Harlot is beautiful, I can't wait to see Maya and P&C bloom here, no buds yet, but really growing. So hot and windy today everyone is wilted and windbeat outside. Still sitting around wishing I could do something more than watch everything, I really need to move stuff around.
I like the crown of thorns, didn't even know there was such a thing utill I came to this thread.. thanks!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I cAN get you cuttings too Debra. I have yellow and a red one. Is your back any better??

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Charleen..it is better than yesterday, and better than monday. I just came in from trying to water. It hurts to bend or tug. Oh well.. I have to keep thinking how pretty brugs are... I come here to escape. I would like to say yes to cuttings, but would rather wait on all cuttings now until fall, where I can set up my basement garden again. Thanks, Charleen.. you are a jewel.
Elizabeth is just the best brug gardener isn't she?? I am so glad she posts her blooms.

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Elizabeth,

I've had computer equipment problems so haven't been online much. I just saw your photos of Dorthea. Unless the bloom suffered a lot of damage or vast temperature changes during formation, yours may not be Dorthea. Dorthea's skirt is long and ends in the longest tendils I've seen.
http://cubits.org/Brugmansia/db/brugmansiadatabase/view/4802/
http://ibrugs.com/Resources/PhotoAlbums.aspx
If yours doesn't develop the long tendrils, I'll see if I can send you a cutting of mine toward the beginning of fall. I just may have another shoot coming up from the bottom by then.

Color can vary from a pale pink (in winter) to a dark reddish pink sometimes the calx doesn't get as long as normal, but the tendrils have always been long.

Ken, It's interesting that Dorthea and Wild & Crazy are pod sisters, but when you look at their blooms they do have some similar traits although Wild & Crazy's tendrils aren't as long as Dorthea's. Have you ever crossed the two?

Here's a photo of W & C in bloom in mid-November

Dorthea, you are right about the Tendrils, mine are shorter, I have a lot of trouble right now with earwigs, they want to eat everything, I go out about twice a day, I keep catching them, i throw them down & squesh them with my shoe

Elizabeth
