Some of my monarda, rudbeckia, echinacea, xerochrysum and a few others I've forgotten have been nibbled by bugs, leaving little holes all over the leaves. But I have yet to see a single critter. Any ideas on the culprit, and on possible solutions?
Any ideas which bugs are responsible?
Photo?
Sometimes the size of the holes and the patterns can ring a bell, but just saying "holes" isn't much to go on, sorry.
Go out with a flashlight right after it gets dark and see what you can find on the undersides of the leaves.
After dark ... flashlight ... underneath the leaves. That might explain why I haven't seen anything, I'm doing it all wrong. Will look tonight if it's not freezing out there -- what happened to June??? -- and will try to get some pix. I can't figure out how to use DH's fancy new camera. TX in advance for your help.
How do the buds look? I get these tiny black beetles that hide in the new buds, chomping away. Just sprayed two days ago. Monarda, echinacea, rudbekia here, too. Even sunflowers.
haven't seen them, went outside last night to take a look but nada. Took photos of the leaves, but woke up today with the flu to kill all flu and if I'm lucky, it will kill me too, and soon. Be back to gardening anon if I live.
