I have recently purchased two Tacca chantrieri Black Bat Flower bulbs. They were shipped to New Jersey from Thailand. Upon opening them I discovered a small spider (harmless looking but... you never know!) I got rid of it and took out the bulbs getting ready to plant. Then I found two more spiders that looked the same only much, much smaller. I do not want to introduce any foreign species to my yard, but I am worried about more babies. Is there something I can do to the bulbs before planting without harming the plants to get rid of any eggs, nests, or babies?
Thanks for any advice!!
Help! Foreign Spiders
Wow- I'd be nervous too. Perhaps you should ask this in the pests & diseases forum, as someone there may know more. I would think a gentle bath in soap and water would do it, though (these are just bare bulbs, right?)
