Morning Glories 2010 #06

Gautier, MS

Love your gorgeous blooms Joseph!

Becky beautiful blooms!! The seeds I got from blue marble were tan instead of the dark brown-black as original so I'm not sure if it reverted to what it was originally or crossed. I need to start some more of those to see what I get.

Neat blooms on Blue Silk.

Pretty leaves from orange seeds of I. transvalens. Don't know if I'll get blooms from this healthy vine.

Thank you, Helena. Hey are you still growing salvia? I am but only try a few new ones each year and mainly ones that will be perennial here in Delaware or if not hardy will flower during the regular growing season and not in the winter months.

Becky, Kanoko has a red speckled flower. My plant's flower was red speckled. No peach color in real life.

Helena, more gorgeous flowers. I bet you will get blooms
on Transvaal.

sigh..... no new MG blooms today.

Gautier, MS

Thanks Jackie. Itwould be great to get some blooms on that vine.

Yes I am Joseph though they have taken a back seat I have 'Wendy's Wish', Scarlet Spires and a few I started myself from seeds. I still love them and I think a lot easier to start & grow them inside since I wasn't successful to get any mg's to bloom inside!

This is Purple Plum Velvet from "Taste".

Fuji no Monet has been a really good bloomer!

Helena, good growing on the salvias. The Purple Plum Velvet seems to live up to its name, it is awesome.

Here is a nice first flower for N19. Deep blue margin on white and nicely variegated leaves which was a treat for the eyes this morning.

Here is a very nice first flower of N23, another vine with nicely variegated leaves. From the Noriko Takemura collection.

Thanks Joseph, wow those are beautiful blooms!! You have some awesome vines!

Hard to understand how the same bloom looks with more color. Purple Plum Velvet from "Taste" a little while ago, same bloom.

Whoa! Some real beauties posted above!!!

I love the Sazanami, Helena! The blooms will hopefully mutate like the lavender ones I grew last year and produce some interesting future blooms! I love your blue ones! And I find the Fuji no Monet to be such a gorgeous bloomer! Love ALL of yours!

Joseph - Some nice N series vines. Where did you say you get them from?

Here is a collage of some of mine from this year. I have individual photos on another site.

And I have recently had some rather interesting mutant blooms on some of those vines! Again, individual photos elsewhere on the internet.

Jackie - I am taking your advice and trying to root 5 cutting of my lavender Sazanami in a vase. Seems my squirrels or some other animal broke the main vine off and I found almost the entire vine wilting this morning. Grrrr ... But I cut them up into 5 pieces and have them in water right now. I even have a bloom on one of the vines! LOL! I have my fingers crossed that they produce roots so I can transplant them into a bucket soon. :-)

Great blooms Helena, love the small Kikyo Lace

Joseph, gorgeous N19

Becky, beautful blooms, so happy I have a Silver Wolf. Love its regular
blooms and the mutant bloom
Crazy about your Blue Speckles, so different

Within a week, I will finally have blooms, some planted since March 21.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Impressive, especially the pink silk and all the mutant blooms are incredibles. I am waiting for some pretty ones to climb and bloom.... So far, I only have 2 different kinds blooming. The shredded purple from Summer Hills does not seem to be producing seeds. I may need to try to hand pollinate....

Will the F1 offspring of a three way cross be identical? Just curious.

Tony

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks Jackie and Nicole! I can't wait to see more of what you both are growing this year! :-)

Tony - It will be identical ONLY if the cross is stable. It usually takes 3 generations of grow-outs to know that. Sometimes more depending on the hybrid. So the answer to your question ... you won't know until you grow it out again and again and again. (At least 3 times!) :-)

Norfolk, VA

I was saying that if I was to take the F1 single cross and cross it with a pure bred with the pure bred being the mother, would the seeds harvested from that 3 way cross be identical. Sorry if I asked the question in a misunderstanding way.

Tony

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Tony - I honestly don't know. I would think that if you crossed the F1 with the mother plant that you might get something that looks like both ... or the mother plant ... or the offspring plant ... or even something totally different if a recessive gene shows up! LOL! Sorry I couldn't give you a more definite answer. If you want it to look the same, I'd cross it with itself and then think positive and maybe sing to your vine... :-p~~~

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky, Oops, forgot you are trying your hand at rooting your broken stem
cuttings. Sometimes they can root so fast I don't even have time
to change out the rooting water. I just give then an inch or so of water to root in. Just forget about them for a few days and you will probably find them rooted. :-)
