Red mites

Abilene, TX(Zone 7b)

Mites are killing by butterfly bush. I'd like to stay as organic as possible, I have lots of butterflies and bees and I know that what kills one insect usually kills others. Suggestions?

Water alone will do it.

If you take the garden hose and forcefully drench the plant- the mites will be washed off-repeat as necessary.

If a person is not sure if they have mites, place a white piece of paper under a branch/twig and shake- the mites will be very very small but they will show up plainly as they fall onto the paper.

Thanks. Most of the leaves were stripped off the bush by a recent hail storm. But I checked the remaining leaves and they still have mites. I'll try soap and water first and see how that works. I had better luck getting them off my lamb's ear, but they were on the top of the leaves on it. They are underneath on the butterfly bush.
