Who is that whitehaired old F--T with her back to the camera? LOL

Isn't that a treasure from JoAnn???? Love it!! Just a true treasure!!!
No, Victor....there are 10 more acres on this side of the road and 40 some across the road. It was an old first settler's farm. We only keep the meadow above the fence (which includes my garden area to the left above the potting shed) and our yard portion cleared. The rest is forest in its natural state. The meadow keeps wanting to go back to being a white pine forest....including my vegetable garden!!! LOL
Ah, okay. Love that word - 'acres'. Hope to use it some day in the 'possessive'!!
Wonderful shots and what a great painting by JoAnn, just lovely. You are very lucky to have such a nice place to retire to up there and what a nice job you have done in restoring the house and the gardens. Well done. Love the RU pic too.
Thank you, Pat! At some point, I hope you and Victor can also come here and enjoy the serenity of the place with us!! It's sure not fancy, but it is a comfortable place to enjoy Mother Nature!
Victor - I think it is in your future!! :) BTW, that black fence is the puppy fencing that we did to give them some room to run around the back yard, but keep them from venturing too far into the path of critters.
Thanks, Louise.
Didn't realize that Pat and I were an item. I'm flattered!!
Thanks for the invite Louise, someday for sure.
LOL Victor! Just think of the shrubs and trees I could get my hands on, but alas you are too young for me I think, not to mention the idea of breaking in a new model when the old one that's here is all set and well regulated for the most part. ^_^
Very pretty roses Robin, they are really loaded with blooms.
Thanks, Pat...that's what a mild winter will do...those roses are against the dog fence, are never fed or sprayed....I do have to prune the white one which I failed to do this spring...I see there's bittersweet vine mixed in with it.
pat can you expand on "for the most part"?
That means well domesticated, Bill.
your killing me LOL
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! "well regulated", indeed, Pat!!!!
Marilyn- your Alba does look a lot like our very old one. Is yours also that old? I love its gentle, dainty blooms. Relatives of the owners before Hank's family gave me a sister rose that is pink and just as old, but I'm not sure it's still viable, as it hasn't bloomed in a few years. The plants are identical and planted together, so I can't tell for sure.

weed vine or something else?
Allison - lots of pretties in your picasaweb! Nice link! That HD find is one I've seen a lot in Florida, but I can't ID it for you. There are lots of those in the neighborhood. Could it be some type of bromeliad? I'm just not sure about it. Chances are good that it is not hardy.
How is Lily and how are the pups?
it was in a container that said annual... would think that is correct... just want to know how and where to plant it.. was worth a shot for a dollar.. I will give a pup update on the pets thread.. not to hijack this one.. moves fast enough already

I think the mystery plant is purple heart; it gets small, pretty lavender flowers (if that's what it is).
It is a species of spiderwort.
At Wikipedia.org: 'Tradescantia pallida.'
Your vine might be an invasive we have here.We call it "Stranglvine" Impossible to get rid of.It grows where you cant round-up.Pulling is the only answer.
thank you.... BA and JoAnn... good news is the vine ....it's in a container
Allison, I was going to say it looks like some kind of Wandering Jew, which is in the 'Tradescantia family. :)
thank you Celeste.... I will look them all up... I know I have seen it before... thinking it has long spikey leaves
Heart shaped leaf in a container? Not what I thought.
nice joann
Vine looks like a wild MG to me too.
Such adorable planter, very cute onewish.
Very nice shots of your garden JoAnn. You have a lot of blooms on your coreopsis already. Nice.
Can't beat those J. Ferns, so elegant in the shade garden. Glad this one is still there for you Robin.
