While changing out my nectar feeder, even though I haven't seen my hummers for a few days-- I was so thrilled to find out. They're here, they're here still!!! Whoa! Also I discovered my first blooms of crocosmia (sp?). And the male hummer was hovering/loving the croc. Unfortnuately, no camera at hand...:((

We had stormy weather last evening and I think it blew all the Hummers back. They were swarming again last night but it was too dark to get any shots.

Here is a female on the Monardo...it is my first year growing it and the Hummers love it.

Lily, your Crocosmia looks great...mine hasn't even come up yet.

My Crocosmia took a long time to sprout but is finally up now about 6-8 inches. My first time growing it. My Pineapple sage is getting way bigger than I though it would! In the ground is working much better than growing it in pots for me.

Good ones nanny!!

Rose and Nan, your pictures are fantastic! Our growing season is longer here down South. Our down side is that it's hot, too hot down here during the growing season.

Great job Rose and Nanny!

Macon County, IL(Zone 5b)

Lovely pictures Rose and Nanny. It makes me miss home! I won't see my little sweeties until Sunday after five days gone. They had lots of bee balm, penstemon and such so I hope they haven't left me for another! Went to Missouri last week and I noticed there were fewer birds than I recalled last year and I didn't get any good pictures. :(

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Absolutely great job that you have done, Nan, Rose and everyone. I saw one briefly today. Just to reassure me that they're still around. I can dream on catching a photo opportunity of these lovelies.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Wonderful pictures Rose and Nanny!!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Those are darling shots Nanny...I love it when they find their own perch!!

Lily...I am seeing them in the fields now since there is Clover and other wild flowers in bloom. I have noticed that just before dark they really show up in numbers...too dark to get pic though but they put on quite a show!

Ilflowers...sorry you didn't see as many birds this year in Mo. but glad you are on your way home!

Nice shots Nanny and Dellrose!! Nanny the male's will just not perch for me lol, nice capture's!
Dellrose, love the close-up of the male! and the field have you tried to do video? Maybe if you set it up low to the ground with sky in the background you could capture the action over the field. Just a thought it sounds like a cool thing to see.

Well I got a couple of shots but I think I need to change something to get the hummers to face the camera more so I can get that ruby throat. This direction seems to always produce a dark throat.

The Rebel series is about half the price of the 7D...my T1i has full HD 1920x1080...but you have to get a high speed memory card also to run full HD.

Thanks for the info Burd!

Not a great shot but the Hummers get into a feeding frenzy just as the sun is going down.

Thanks Rose for showing all or most of your hummers. I'm sure there must be more. I'm worried sick about the 20 plus hummers that didn't arrive this year at my house. I just hope they continued their journey past me because of the bad weather.

It sure looks like your little ones get along well together.

Sweet one Rose!

Sandusky, OH

Wow look at all of them...not sure if I would want that many...but the interaction between them would be kind of nice to see since I only get the random visitor. :)

Columbia City, IN(Zone 5b)

rose ,do you have all those all summer ? I have seen that many before not far from me just a mile or so.I ve often wondered if all those hummers stayed around all summer in those numbers ? I do have 5 maybe 6 Iam hoping 3 &3.I was so mezmerized when I saw all those hummers got to watch them up close.amazing..

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Would someone like to start a new thread??

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks for your comments...I really enjoy the Hummers! This is my third year of feeding and have been fortunate to have several visitors throughout the spring and summer. They seem to show up in great numbers in the spring then decrease to just a few for a few weeks and then increase again. They are constant visitors now and I think the juvies are starting to visit. The early morning and just at nightfall are the times that they go crazy and swarm the feeders...it is fun to watch as well as listen to them tanking up!!

I will be starting a new thread and will be back with a link....here is the link http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1110339/ '
