Congrats Marna on your female arrival. Are your honeysuckles still in bloom? Mine has tappered off due to hot weather.
Thank you Nan for the new thread. Your two little 'girls' are so sweet Nan. I watched my two chasing each other off the feeders this morning.
Susan, the males are hard to come by. If I see him again, I'll point him to head your way. lol
dont cha just love gettin buzzed by a humming bird, great shots EB
Each hummer seems to have its own personality. You all have such cute little birds!
Thanks for the new thread, nanny.
Darling pics of the females. Could they be any sweeter-looking?
Nice shot, Lily. Very pretty setting.
Cute one Lily!
Burn, somehow I missed your adorable last pic in the previous post. Sorry! This new one is really cute, too. Looks like he's saying, "Puh-leeze! Can't ya see I'm trying to eat here?"
Very cute male burn!
Nuts thanks. Love your caption, so appropriate!!! :))
That's a beautiful male, if I may say that. lol
Thanks for the new thread Nanny.
And thanks for the congrats on the HB. I haven' seen her for a bit, but she was here most of the morning.Maybe she'll be back tonight. My honeysuckle on the arbor (trumpet, "dropmore scarlet") is waning, but still blooming. The honeysuckle on the fence is in full bloom. I have a number of things blooming for the HBs now, Sage, cat mint, Wendy's Wish and Black and blue salvias. The sweet peas are just starting to bloom and the fucshia in pots are doing well.
Here's a silhouette from this morning.
Just like Duc has mentioned, the hummers each seems to have its unique personality. How nice to catch the pair male/female together like that Nan. They are a new source of joy for me to watch. I'm so grateful.
Very cool shot, Mrs_Ed! Hope she sticks around for a while.
Nice, nanny! They would make a handsome couple - don't ya think?
Great pic, ilflowers! What a charming little guy.
Good job at catching this one ilflowers! I'm still hoping to catch my 'one' and only male thus far.
Very nice shots all! Mrs_Ed maybe this female will stick around this time...congrats!
Nice ones hugger!
Cute one iflowers!
Ditto to nanny and Mrs Ed's!
Wonderful pix hg. Nan, the little one she's too cute!
nice shots nan, females are soo cute
Really cute shots, huggergirl! Sounds like they're just playing with you.
Adorable, nanny!
I find the males don't stay around as long as the females. The females like to "lounge" while they eat.
All your hummers are just so sweet! So happy to see that more and more of you are able to enjoy these cuties! Great pictures everyone!
Hi,
Here are some pics of the Dichelostemma ida-maia that I took yesterday. The blooms are nearing the end of their lives now so many of them don't look so great. They would normally start blooming a little later, but this has been an early year for blooms.
This is my first year with them. The Hummers seem to love them!

Last one.
I think next year I might interplant with other tall blooms since these don't have much in the way of leaves.
You might also want to check this link on Brent & Becky's (that's where I bought mine) for more info & pics. Others carry them, but I had really good luck with these on my first try.

Nuts, those are quite nice, thanks for the pictures! I think I will have to give them a try in the fall based on your report. Now to find a spot, hmmm. I'll have fun figuring that out. Sounds like a good idea to mix them in. I was thinking maybe they would go well with the tall, dark coral colored penstemon. I did finally see a hummer at the penstemon this morning and I am pleased, because those flowers exploded this year compared last year when I first planted them.
me too! I'm going to get some!!
Nice shots everyone!! Nice shots Nanny thanks for the new thread!
Still planning on a different arrangement for my feeder... just haven't got to it yet..have made a nice perch though to attach to the pole...hope they use it. Here's another shot from the other day, just haven't had to much time this week..hopefully Sunday I'll get to sit and photograph some more Hummer's.
