"nodding" flowers...

Hayward (Z8b-9a), CA(Zone 8b)

I first noticed this with my rose bush, the buds/flowers look like they are wilting but it's not hot nor do they need water. Then my shasta daisies started "nodding", but just where the flowers/buds are... Does anybody know why this happens? Weather's great- it's not hot, maybe around 68 degrees and the sun's not beating down on them. They were not over or under watered at all... Is this some sort of disease? The rose and daisies are right next to each other as you can see by the pic... Thanks for any input

Hey gramps ^_^~! Ya, i guess nobody has one either [sigh!]... They're still "nodding" but the good news is that they're not wilting or dying, the rosebuds actually bloomed today as well as some of the daisies :). Hope you and your "rose" are in good health and having the finest gardening weather! ^_^

Weak stems??
Has anyone checked out the watering system for hanging flowers at Lowe's. Supposed to keep plants watered for a week!!

We are doing great, just to busy and taking to much time away from the yard and garden. The weather is really hot and humid but things continue to thrive. Might have to float a loan to pay my water bill, though. Hope you get your problem solved.

I hear ya ladyS, but the thing is, it's just the tips and I have other roses with the same skinny (if not, skinner) stems but they never drooped. it's just odd that this happened to two different flowering plants that are right next to each other and this is the very first time this occured... usually, the shasta's leaves would ALL droop bcos of the heat then perk up, but it's just where the flower/buds are that are drooping right now (leaves are fine and "perky") and add to that- my shastas' stems are VERY stiff and sturdy, hence my doubt... But i will check out Lowe's as you suggested ^_^

Gramps: lol on the water bill! gots the same problem here and DH was even wonderin if someone's been "stealing" from our spigot outside ^_^! I told him to chill and don't wonder why our plants look so healthy and the water bill too! ^_^

I offered to quit taking a bath to save on water but my wife nixed that.

I'm slow. It took me a while to see the smiley face.

One possibility would be if there are thrips- they will hit the buds. You might gently peel the petals back on one of the affected buds- one that has started to open, to see if you see brown streaks, or, if you see any little critters skittering away- they could be cream colored, or brown, black or yellow. Thirps are very small, about 1/3 of mm long- noting it takes 10 mm to make one centimeter- they are small.
