Questions on keeping flowers on Hyacinth bean plant

Saugerties, NY

I bought a hyacinth bean plant which was blooming and also had lots of bean pods. I love the flowers and beans, so I bought 20 which were just started and planted them with some trellises for support as they grow. I have noticed on the first plant (more mature) that I now have almost no flowers. Do I need to remove the bean pods or dead-head the spent flowers to keep new ones coming? Also, I also bought morning glories and in my research I read somewhere if they don't get enough sun, they may not flower as well. I can't remember if that was referring to the morning glories or the hyacinth bean plants. Any clue? I know the morning glories will grow almost anywhere, so I am a little hesitant about where I will plant them. May keep them in pots.... thanks for the help...

Hyacinth bean needs sun.

Even in pots the morning glory pods can spread their little seeds! So if you don't want them everywhere - you will have to pull the pods before the pods open or - make sure where the pods open the seeds won't blow, fall, etc. etc to soil.

The few times I have grown the hyacinth bean - I didn't deadhead and got plenty of flowers. To me the pods are the reason for growing and the color of the entire vine -flowers not so significant. Annuals so be sure to let the pods dry well and store for the winter.

Your winters come quickly in Saugerties and so I hope you have those morning glories well on the way because you may not have time to grow them and get the pods to ripen if you want some for next year.
