I see Miss Muffett.Thats what I love about gardening. The harder and longer you work on a concept the worse it is sometimes. The afterthoughts and "just put it here's" are sometimeds the best.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

We crossed.
What on erath did you do to diserve that?

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Terri, the pot is awesome! A Daylily for the "grass" Great idea, it looks good.

ROFL on your embedded gardening tool!!!!!! Oh it must have been a bad break. I hope therapy is going well.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Roses R Red...........interesting piece of photocopy work. I'm playing with CS4. So much one can do with software tools these days. I think it is a very interesting craft. Geese I still remember when in Jr. High we worked with our hands to adjust shadow and contrast. We thought we really had something special.

Jill,

LOVE your "Pink Grapefruit" Yarrow!

I had to go out and take a picture of the leaves on my KK Hibiscus....as they are almost maroon.

I believe it is b/c mine sits in full sun and yours might be in a more shaded spot.. yes? no?

Also---re Phlox........I pinched mine back (too late now, I think--I see buds!) and stuck all the pinched off tips in a loose soil mix. About half of them rooted....YEAH! More Phlox! Nothing ventured---nothing gained.....

Roses---
I LOVE your Caladium mixed planter pot! SOOOO pretty! And--YES! That looks like a hand-rake in your wrist.....
You can now have a bionic weeding arm........like in the movies...they go "POOOFF" with their hand--and all these blades appear....We'll just call you "Freddie"......

Here's the KK leaves amid the "Dwarf, red Coreopsis" I grew from my seed. This bed is right in the middle of my front lawn. See the earlier picture of my house.....

Gita, if that yarrow keeps doing this well, I'll have some to share this fall or next spring!

I think my KK hibiscus leaves have varied in color sometimes. I do remember it being darker... also possible I got confused (didn't look for the label) and posted a photo of 'Plum Crazy' (in which case I wonder where I moved the KK? LOL).

*ouch* Roses... and too funny that your hardware looks like a hand rake!

These asiatic lilies have multiplied well in my side bed! Not sure of the variety... lost the label.. but should be able to look it up in co-op records, maybe.

I have Fireball hibiscus, which was bred by the same guys, and it doesn't produce seed either. The Lowes here has big pots of Kopper King hibiscus and several other varieties for $12.98. They just got them in this week.

There are also lots of places carrying it online, including the breeders directly. They have some really pretty ones.

Hart---

Go grab one or more of the KK's. You won't be sorry! They have been non-existent for about 4-5 years now.....
Just the color of the leaves and that amazing bloom!!!!

Click on my name--and go all the way down to the bottom--and there i will be by my KK's. This was, maybe, 3-4 years ago.....

I keep meaning to take cuttings in fall and try propagating my hybrid hardy hibiscuses by the "dormant cutting" method...

Shenandoah Valley, VA

I know, Gita. I'm seriously considering getting one when I go to the store this week. But then if I wait until the big half price sale at the nursery in Winchester, I can get one there - an even bigger plant for about half that price.

I have Fireball, which is by the same breeders. It has gorgeous purple foliage and solid red flowers.

You should check out the link above for the Flemings' website. They have lots of pretty hibiscus including Kopper King and Fireball and others.

So many things still missing from my garden when I look at these pictures.

Two of my Hibiscus Luna Swirl did germinate from seed. I'm hoping to see some blooms this year.

I'm having fun with the blooms that came from seed this year. Purple Baron Millet is making a statement here.

Roses that is too funny what a piece of hardware. Ouch!
Here is the messy bed. It is the new bed that runs down the side of the Veggie garden. This was taken before we got it completely weeded. There are daylilies, fuchsia beebalm, silver king artemisia, sea oats and cannas is this picture. Several of the plants in this bed got away from me while we were gone. Plants that needed staked or thinned are sprawling all over but all in all I'm pretty pleased with this bed.

I see Monardas in there.

Beautiful ge, I did get the front of the bed all weeded and Ric got the back weeded when he did the Veggie Garden. Haven't decided what to do about the plants that should have been staked up as they are laying all over and I may just let them be till they finish flowering. Here is the smoke bush, some dark daylilies & volunteer perilla.

This is the other end, Some of the ornamental grasses, comfrey, maybe some obedient plant, iris & yarrow. Talking about plants laying all over. What do you do with yarrow, just let it sprawl or try to tie it up?

Looking a bit better here after a good weeding.

Holly is the frilly leafed dark plum plant Perilla?

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

Those lilies look great with your smokebush, Holly.

ge, I think that I have narrowed the reason for my accident (fell down deck steps) after all the feedback that I have gotten.

a. The deck was wet.

b. We had just put another coat of sealer on the deck.

c. I was wearing a pair of old crocs which had been WORN SMOOTH because they
were so old. .
According to a friend of ours, he almost killed himself wear a worn out pair of Crocs that had smoothed out soles when he stepped into his garage from the side door and immediately slid forward.

I don't wear Croc's anymore; not even new ones.......No Crocs. They scare me.

I am fascinated with Sea Holly. These are "Sapphire Blue"

Yes, I just love it. Adds great color to the beds. It is a pretty aggressive grower but easily weeded out as it spreads by seeds not roots. It will grow to about 3ft.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Roses, I have sea holly in that bed, too. It's very pretty but laying over as I didn't get it staked.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Roses glad you are on the mend.
I cant get sea holly to grow here for anything

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

roses, I have a pair of warm winter boot with smooth soles- yup scary as heck to slip! Cheap flip flops are slippery when wet too!

Yep, any rubber soled shoe will be slippery after the tread wears down. I have found a brand similar to Crocs that I like better. They're called Dawgs. Now that my feet are so prone to hurting, I wouldn't give them up for anything. I do watch to make sure the soles of any of my rubber soled shoes aren't worn. If they are, they get tossed.

Hart---I got so excited at a Yard sale last weekend to FINALLY find a pair of really cute boots to wear when i water all the plants, trees, shrubs and tables at my HD.....
Wore them the other day-----but after a while--I felt like my feet were just "cooking" inside.....
Since it was almost 100*--and I was out there for 4+ hours--I thought this was "normal".....
I thought it was just from the heat and having my feet in "rubber" (???) boots....HAH!!!!

Well--when I came inside--and took them off--my socks were soaked! They were NOT water-proof!!!! Bummer!
I only paid $2 for them at a Yard Sale----Been looking for a long time.....But now--I have to find a way to water-proof them....Isn't there a product that you can spray on shoes to make them water-proof???? WHAT is it?

Meanwhile---I will be back to wearing my 3lb. Timberline hiking boots which ARE water-proof....Just SO heavy and uncomfortable after an hour or so.....

Hopefully--as of tomorrow---we will have a respite from the 90+ weather....RAIN! PLEASE send us some rain around here!!!!! We get the rumbles---and the winds---and the ominous clouds.....and--then--POOF! Nothing else! The sun comes out again and everything dries up----again......WHERE did all the rain go????

Yeah we had a big 5 minutes of rain, big deal!

That's why I prefer the Crocs sandals or clogs - no hot feet in summer. I had a pair of rubber, and they were rubber not the plastic material Crocs and Dawgs are made of - garden shoes a few years ago. I couldn't stand them in the summer because they were so hot.

Here's the Dawgs sandals I like. They have a lot of other styles.
http://www.shoebuy.com/dawgs-dawgs-sandal/228897
http://www.shoebuy.com/dawgs-z-sandal-rubber-sole/314453/671948 These are the ones I have - in this color - woo hoo!

If you register on the shoebuy site, you automatically get 10% off every order. And they always have free shipping and free return shipping. If they have a coupon for, say, 20% off you still get the 10% on top of that.

Lands End makes regular shoes that are waterproof. http://www.landsend.com/pp/StylePage-53592_AL.html?CM_MERCH=REC-_-FPPP-_-GGT-_-1-_-53592-_-386301

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

I may have to invest in a pair of waterproof sandals, my feet get wet every morning; I usually end up stuffing a paper towel under each foot to somewhat dry off. My husband cracks up at my garden fashion!

We have a lot of blooms now. I'll have to take a few pictures to post.

My favorite, arugula, is going to seed now, then I can yank it out...
