Hey folks,
I planted some valencia peanuts about a week ago, and they're starting to look pretty good already! I've never grown these before and am just wondering if anyone has any experience they can share?

Has anyone grown peanuts?
Thanks Farmerdill! I got the seeds from a company in Ontario, and they claim that it can be done. If it doesn't work, well I'll be a little disappointed, but I'd only be out two bucks at least...

Thanks Yates :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to munch on a few.
Yates , the cultivar depicted is Tennessee Red, so I know they will grow in Tennessee. Use to grow them in central Virginia when I was a kid.
Hmmm what time do ya plant them ? sot of like taters earley? rrealy dont know much about them but i love the hot and spicey and boild. what can you tell me ? i'll try any thing once
Not too early, If you grow pole beans, about the same time. Planting is about the same, 1-2 inches deep 8-10 inches apart. Valentias tolerate slightly heavy soils, Virginia and runners really need light soil. None of them will grow clay, because they bloom like a bean, send down pegs and the pod forms underground,. If the pegs encounter resistance , no peanut.
Nods ok so this year won’t be a good year it’s the first year the ground has been turned in 20+ years maybe next year after it has been tilled and turned under with more compost and mix . ~;>)
