Hello all,
I am new to the site and new to gardening. I just attempted to make my first garden yesterday and when my fiance pulled up the grass we notice that in the spot the garden was going that we had several grubs in that area. We then put grub ex on the lawn and he also put it where the garden was going. I'm not sure if this was ok. Does anyone know how long I should wait before I plant my vegetable? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Kristin
Grubs in Garden
Not to be mean but read the bag Darlen. (Note This the way i talk no offence) it will tell you based on the amount of rain and the climat in your area ant based on the amount that you have applied to the soil how long to waite before planting .
I have the peskey varmets as well here is my remidy for them: Spray the ground good with it wate for a day or two and plant away. good luck .

Than you for the bug spray recipe. I have the nasties in my compost pile too, for the first time this year. I have a lot of them and due to space/critter restrictions I do container gardening. Can I just spread out my compost and spray away?
Thank you for your service,
Sophie
Sophie, the grubs won't hurt your compost. When you are ready to use the compost just sift the grubs out and leave them for the birds to eat. They help break down the fruit and veggie matter into smaller bits that are more easily acted upon by the worms and beneficial bacteria. One of the most common grubs we see in our compost is the green fruit beetle grub....They are large and the birds love them. Because they move through the compost, they do help aerate the compost and that is a good thing. I have had Mocking Birds and Blue Jays swoop down and snatch grubs right off the shovel while turning the compost...a bit startling at first, but now it is fun to watch them.
