I'm seeing lots of California Quail every day, but still no little ones walking around.

But eventually came out for a photo-op!

Well it is my turn to start the new thread, and I have a story for you, complete with illustrations. I hate to start the new thread with a story, so I'll tell it here and it should just about run this us up to capacity.

My neighbor came over and asked if he could borrow my ladder. Some boys from down the street had a parrot and it gotten loose and had flown up on my neighbor's roof. I went to look and of course I took my camera.

The owner of the bird scampered up the ladder. Twice a friend called up to ask if he wanted the cage they had brough with them. No, the parrot was very used to being carried about on his finger.

He proceeded to demonstrate.

We wondered how he would negotiate the ladder while holding the bird in one hand, but he showed us.

...And he started down the ladder.

---But without the parrot!!!

This is the last shot I got of him. It is out of focus, but, hey, the parrot was way out there and showing no signs of coming back. I saw one of the boys a few days later and they had heard nothing from or about the bird.

OMG. That's terrible! Shoot. Better safe than sorry!

He said he paid more than $1,000 for the bird.
