Brown-headed Cowbird............Last year the cowbirds showed up with the blackbirds and hung out with them. This year the cowbirds were much later getting here and the blackbirds run them off if they try to mix.

I was sitting in my wheelchair in the shade and a Downy Woodpecker landed right above me.

Hack, LOL on the Juvie Cowbird checking on his deordorant! Nice cropped Downy. Nan, how lucky to have juvie Whitecrowned Nuthatches. They frequent my feeder, but I have yet seen a youngun. The Eastern Kingbird was really a surprise! My knees almost buckle when I discovered it landed that close to me. As it turn out, it didn't see me, I saw it first as I've mentioned.

I'm trying to figure out what this is -- would you say it's a juvenile Grackle or something else?

Mary, I'd be more inclined to say juvenile Brown-headed Cowbird.

It looked bigger than a Cowbird, but I do see the resemblance. I saw some other juvenile Cowbirds today and they were all a medium dull brown, not dark like this one. Do you think this young one is male perhaps?

Nanny, I loved the picture of the White-breasted Nuthatch and fledgling, I have never seen a WBN fledgling before, we have a pair that comes around every now and then, it's always a special treat to see them.

TheHackster-Downeys are just too cute, We have several pairs that visit but I haven't see them in a couple of weeks.

Lily_Love-I have yet to get a picture of a Carolina Chickedee, thanks for sharing yours.

I have had a male Hairy woodpecker that visits several times a day, I have not seen a female yet.

We have several pairs of Red-Bellied woodpeckers, we have not seen any females in weeks. We are hoping to see the fledglings soon.

The juvenile Nuthatch is a first for me too nanny;thanks.

Weird that you all don't have nuthatch babies. We had a mom, dad and 3 fledglings yesterday running 'round & 'round the tree...so funny! lol

Great photos everyone! So many cute little ones. Speaking of little ones, we found this almost newborn Black-tailed fawn in the lot next to our home. Mom was closeby and baby was trying to figure out how to stand up in the heavy brush.

Here's a pretty Bullock's Oriole.

Another juvie Oriole just trying to figure out how to get the sugar water.

Speaking of little ones, our House Sparrows fledged and papa was trying to feed this little one part of a peanut. When the baby couldn't break it up more, papa took it back and broke it up more then fed it to the baby again.

They may be bad birds, but I can't help but love them.

Hi nanny, I probably don't see too many of the smaller birds juvys here because of all the darn Grackles!! My Downy's are bringing theirs around though and I love them!

Today I went to the Jacksonville Zoo in FL.
Double-crested Cormorant. I think it is in captivity because it's other eye is blind.
