Okay, I know this isn't really the time of year that someone might be asking this question, but I have it anyway. I scatterd some poppy seeds in August and then covered them with a light covering of peat moss. Many of them sprouted at varying times throughout August/September, but inevitably they kept disappearing! At first I thought it was damping off, but there was no trace of the small plants. They were just completely gone. Some grew to actually have four leaves, but ultimately they disappeared, too. I'm not sure if I am facing sprout eating bunnies, slugs or something else. I'd really like to grow these next spring, but not sure how to avoid this mystery disappearing act.
Sprouts Being Eaten?
So, if I had slugs or snails, would I be able to tell? There is a product sold to help if that's the case. But, if I'm not sure what the problem is, I don't want to treat the wrong symptom.
Okay, not going to camp out for this... Just thought they wouldn't move quite so fast & thought I migh catch them first thing in the a.m. or with a flash light in the wee hours of the night. What a challenge, eh?
